KCJJ Radio of Iowa City has posted on its facebook page that Todd Lickliter will resign following this season, due to health concerns. (3/13 NOTE: We did not accurately relay the exact details of what KCJJ reported in a follow up facebook post, that said the University of Iowa would cite health reasons for Lickliter’s resignation. KCJJ did not say Lickliter would be retiring due to health reasons. KCJJ still stands by its report)
Lickliter missed a few games earlier this year after complaints of headaches led to surgery and a stint being replaced in his carotid artery due to a tear of the same critical vein.
There has not been any confirmation from Iowa Sports Information at this point in time. Mike Hlas of the Cedar Rapids Gazette posted on his twitter account that Iowa Sports Information Director Phil Haddy told the Gazette’s Scott Dochterman that the KCJJ report was “completely false”.
This ‘report’ is the latest during a very busy day of speculation and rumors on multiple Iowa Hawkeye websites and communities related to Lickliter’s Iowa future.
We will continue to follow this all day. Be sure to sign up for our twitter account at twitter.com/hawkeyenation as well as keeping an eye on our message boards throughout the evening.
