HawkeyeGameFilm offers up a draft analysis of Iowa tackle Marcus Zusevics
Prospect Profile: A solid offensive line prospect who has ability to play both OT and OG. Shows good initial pop as an in-line blocker and displays good technique. Despite good initial pop doesn’t continue to drive defenders consistently. Has excellent body balance and has good footwork. Can struggle to maintain blocks and could use some added strength & size. A good athlete who can get out in space and lead around the outside. Has natural knee bend and is a flexible athlete. A solid but not great pass blocker who struggled with higher level pass rushers(Wisc 2010 – JJ Watt). Has the physical tools to improve as a pass blocker on the outside but may fit best inside as an OG in the NFL. Does well with hand placement and was rarely flagged for holding.
Would fit well in a zone heavy scheme as an OG and could provide depth/versatility by filling in as an OT as well. At times doesn’t have that nasty attitude when finishing blocks and needs to be more physical. Will need to add some size & strength. Was prone to get bull rushed by bigger defensive lineman when not solidly set. Pad level is usually good, but will get bent at awkward angles and lose control of defenders when he gets high. May need time to settle in and improve, but has makings of a starter caliber player. Solid prospect who should will provide some position flexibility to whatever team he lands with.
Notes: Former HS Volleyball player. 2 year starter at RT. Arm: 33 ⅞, Hand: 9 3/4
Combine: Suffered a torn pectoral muscle during bench press. Likely would have been a 4th round pick before injury, and may still get drafed if concerns about his injury can be laid to rest. Either way is a guy who has the ability to make a roster.
