Iowa 9th in Both Polls

Iowa 9th in Both Polls

The Iowa football team moved up one position to #9 in this week’s coaches poll and remained 9th in the AP Poll.. Oregon’s 72-0 win over New Mexico vaulted them from 11th to 8th in the coaches poll, while Oklahoma’s touchdown win over Utah State saw them drop two spots, with Virginia Tech dropping out of the top ten as well. Upcoming opponent Arizona went from unranked to 23rd after their impressive offensive performance against Toledo.

Iowa’s two fumbles in the third quarter likely kept them from hanging 50 on Eastern Illinois, which might have staved off Oregon from leapfrogging them.

So now I have it figured out. Score as many points as possible against terrible teams and move up in the rankings.

Just out of curiosity, did Oregon keep their starters in the entire game to run up the score? Or did their 2nd and 3rd string players lay points on New Mexico too?

That sounds about right… should it be any other way?

How convenient that the Wildcats would begin a climb into the espn coaches poll merely 12 days away from a national tv appearance(primetime on the west coast i might add)with a top ten team. trying to bolster ratings would have nothing to do with the coaches poll though, would it?

disregard last post, just remembered that espn is back w/ap…i was still in boise to the championship game conspiracy mode
