Sounds like McCaff took the time to see him in person at least twice. That makes me feel better about this recruit since coach's talent scouting skills appear quite good.

I am fine with the signing, by the sounds of it his stock is slightly rising. Not saying Kentucky, Duke, or North Carolia are going to offer but I would think after AAU this summer we might be hearing a bit more about the kid.

I heard 6'10 220 pounds, runs the floor very well for his size, good 16 ft face up jump shot and I am sold on him. I figure there is a reason he plays on one of Georgia's top AAU teams as well. His weakness was he needed to add strenght which is a knock on about every kid. He will be a senior in high school this fall so he has time to get on a weight lifting regement. I would guess he will probably get some workouts from Iowa and get an early start I hope.

I am not expecting him to tear it up as a freshman but I hope he has the skills to be a very good player by the time he is midway through his sophomore season.

Having a big guy that can pass it well is a good thing for a team that wants to run. The outlet pass is important part of a fast-break.

Was the guard's name Michael Reeves or Reavis?

Any other videos on Meyer? For some reason there isn't much on him, that I can find. The one circling the boards is from last spring.

Hopefully we got a steal here. Maybe Fran will have the same keen eye for talent as Kirk Ferentz. You just never know how a 17-18 year old will develop ... Fran saw something he liked and with the success of Basabe and Cartwright I have to believe coach sees this kid fitting nicely into the Iowa system ...

If Fran has that type of eye, then we are in for a long kicka$$ ride my friends! He can already recruit good to great talent to a team that finish the worst stretch in school history. Give Fran a good season(next year) and he will have us loaded with talent. That will continue year after year.

It is going to be a good ride.

Re: Atlanta J-C article on Kyle Meyer's commitment

I saw this kid with his dad at the Wig and Pen in IC before the Michigan game, and then saw him and dad later at the game talking to Ryan Bowen and Kirk Speraw as well as FM.

Knew he was a prospect then, but wasn't sure where from. Looks like a nice get. Fran has an eye for talent and he will develop into a good player with our staff. Welcome Kyle.

Yeah, Michael Reaves.
Fun to read the comments at the end of the newspaper article. Same comments here when an Iowa kid leaves the state.
