Re: Semaj Christon

In this clip from a week ago looking ahead to the high school playoffs a sports reporter says Semaj is the "tallest player" on his Winton Woods team at 6-3.

Re: Semaj Christon

Longer video from Winton Woods' District 3 finals last week. Christon misses a second FT near the end of regulation that allows Wayne to tie it with a layup. Involved in several plays in two OTs, including a steal and assist that winds up key in the 80-76 victory.

I second that about the guy doing the interview. He should pursue a different line of work..

I find that a very good question and I will say that there are literally hundreds of thousands of kids out there and a lot of them had coaches that didn't make a tape of them to send out or they played in an obscure conferences' or whatever. Over the last 30 years I can't tell you how many very good players went un-noticed. It happens and they end up going to school and playing Y ball or something. Fran looks under every rock and will go to the ends of the earth to find the fit he is looking for. This might be an example of that. Lets hope so.

Poster on the WVU Scout board says Christon being pursued by Huggy Bear as well as Cincy and Georgetown. Another suggests he needs to work on his grades if he expects to go BCS/Big East.

He mentions Iowa. Sounds like a late bloomer whose stock has exploded his senior year. I think he would be a good get. Starting to see lots of options for Fran.

It felt like a not funny version of this:

According to his rivals page he has a GPA of 2. Is that true? If so, there would be no way he could bring his grades up high enough to qualify for Iowa.

I'll probably get blasted for this but his mannerisms on the court and easy of elevation made me think of MJ right away. And its not the number either.

At this point it's probably hard to bring up the GPA..... I have no idea what GPA requirements they put on Iowa athletes for admission.

I know you have to have at least an 18 ACT score to qualify. You also have to have taken the proper core classes to get into college, but from there I have no idea what GPA you actually need to get into Iowa. Hell maybe all he needs is a 2.5 GPA as long as he meets the other requirements.

Iowa is not that hard to get into.

That's funny stuff. The entire time I was watching that interview it reminded me of a SNL skit.

I love the news on Semaj but that interview was perhaps the biggest waste of time ever.

Re: Semaj Christon

I talked to a professional scout about him and he said he is a top 100 caliber recruit, but that he was about 90% sure that the kid wouldn't qualify for the 2011 class and would have to take a prep year and reclassify to 2012.

That looks like some SNL parody.

Excellent point. I was thinking the same thing watching the NIT, CIB, NCAA's. We need a lot of help, so another Cartwright with a better perimeter game would be a nice start. Add another Basabe with better post moves and little more beef and we would have another piece. So many players overlooked out there that end up having really nice college careers. With a staff that can coach guys up, I see more potential for player development.
