Have to disagree with you on a couple points here, Stormin. Gibbs is more than a slight improvement vs May in my mind. I'd take him over May in a heartbeat. He brings more to the table than May against good competition. Sure, May looks solid against the crap teams; but whenever he faces decent competition. his weaknesses are exposed. He can't dribble well and has a slow first step. This makes him a non-factor most of the time in our offense because solid defenders can completely shut him down. Our offense really stagnates when he touches the ball in the half-court. Plus, I don't see his defense making up for this on any sort of consistent basis. It looks like he should be a good defender, but I just don't see it enough.
Also, I don't see McDermott vs Basabe being the same difference as Gatens vs Manigat. McDermott's game is much more well-rounded than Basabe's on offense and he consistently puts up better effort on the glass and defensively. McDermott would be our best player by a wide margin. Shoot, I think he'd be a top 10 player in the B1G. He might even sneak into the top 5. Right there with Hummel after Sullinger, Taylor, Mbakwe, Green.
