Re: Meyer

Herby, I know that Clemmons Sexton team won last week and Anthony scored 11. Did you have any info on the results of Woodbury, Gesell, Ingram? Thanks in advance.

Re: Meyer

I'll go on the record again predicting Meyer starts over Woodbury.

Oh and I know some here think he is coming in as a 4. Doesn't matter.

Re: Meyer

last i read Gesell had 26 pts in a win the other nite in a 65-37 win, and Woody had 15 pts and 7 rbd in a 71-46 win. not much info on Ingram since his head to matchup with the top rated player in Indiana 5* Harris where he scored 28pts a couple weeks ago

Re: Meyer

I also think that with Thok gone the other teams can triple team at will and that Referees are targeting him because of his height as he just tower over the other teams players, from what a friend of mine said after driving out there to watch the refs were quick with the over the back calls, when he just reached for the rebound.
it is his opinion that he will benifit from having to play others of his size, excellent passer and is not skinny, excellent inside scorer and is a true post.
he does have some things to work on but like all post players of that size most do

Definitely. I don't think Woody playing in that crap is helping him develop. It's sad really.

Re: Meyer

another thing my friend noticed is that he is very unselfish, and they don't run the offense thru him,
unlike LaFrentz, who he saw as well. the diffence is that RL looked to score everytime he touched the ball
AW is a pass 1st center who has excellent post moves who can shoot with either hand around the basket.

I have not seen Woodbury play but I have been to 2 of Meyer's recent high school games. I think Meyer will eventually be a very good Big10 player, but he has a ways to go to be able to start next year. I started another thread with some comments on Meyer after I saw him for the first time. After the second viewing, my thoughts have not changed dramatically. Here is a recap:

The good...
1. Above average athlete who can run the floor well.
2. Above average shooter, for a big man, with sound mechanics. Will be able to occasionally hit a 3 pointer.
3. Very good passer, on both outlet passes and in the half court offense.
4. On offensive rebounds, he keeps the ball above his head and the put-back shots were dunks more often than not.

The not so good...
1. Occasionally floated around the perimeter too much. In the two games I saw, he had a 4-5 inch height advantage over his opponents that I felt he could have capitalized on more. However, I realize this may have been a coaching issue.
2. Was not real strong off the dribble from the perimeter.
3. Post position skills are just OK. When he was fed the ball, he often brought the ball down to his waist, eliminating his height advantage. I thought this was a little strange because he did such a good job of keeping the ball high on offensive rebounds.
4. Has a long way to go on defense. I understand this is pretty common at the high school level, but it's worth pointing out.
