dribble penetration

Defensivley this is destroying us

I thought marble's defense was horrible tonight but the last few games were letting people drive right down the middle of the floor.

I realize we may not be as quick at guard but they arent even trying to get in front of people.

That is the start of the problem then it snowballs from there. Iowa then has issues with rotation following the dribble drive. You have to rotate to open players closest to the basket where shots are made at a higher percentage.

It's just hard to watch a team that is so lost defensively.

This is the reason I see Ingram getting a shot to play a bunch next year, his defense alone so it's been sold is reason enough for him to see a good chunk of minutes.

It is kind of disturbing that they are still this lost in Fran's second season at the helm. It makes more sense every day as to why he went after guys like Ingram and Clemmons but you would hope the current cast could have a little improvement. It is like watching a rec league defense.

Re: dribble penetration

ingram and clemmons supposedly should help sure this up as both are supposed to be solid defenders. a 7 footer to redirect shots will help too. doesnt need to block just make it harder to get them off.

Re: dribble penetration

Clemons, Ingram and Gessel should be Iowas three best perimeter defenders from the get go next year.

We will finally have bigten caliber quickness on the perimeter for what seems like the first time in 10 years.

The two big guys will help allot as well.
