Should May have played more?

I'm probably his least biggest supporter and I think he brings no offense to the table, but dribble penetration was the worst its been all year. You got to think its because may wasn't playing his D against one of their quick gaurds. I think we would have scored less points but I also think they would have too.

Re: Should May have played more?

I honestly can't figure out why May has got the rep of being some kind of defensive stopper on this board.

Why doesn't he sit out a couple games (or whatever is needed) and get healthy rather than playing at 50% or whatever, and being ineffective all season?

May has broken bones in his left hand. That is why he can't dribble.

He was also spotted chewing gum during the game which makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

I don't get it either. I think some just read McCaffrey's quotes and repeat them, despite what unfolds during games. I am not sure the phrase 'defensive stopper' can be uttered with respect to the current squad. Probably the first time Zeller had to ice his knuckles after a game from smacking them against the rim all night.

Re: Should May have played more?

Our D and rebounding was brutal last night regardless of who was in the game. IU shot 55% from the field and had 35 rebounds. They had as many offensive rebounds as we had total rebounds (18). The boxing out and on-ball defense was brutal. Gatens, Marble, Cartwright, Basabe, White, McCabe all got worked. Archie looked lost beyond belief. If that kid never sees the floor again this year I wouldn't be too butt hurt about it.

We shot 63% from the field and 53% from 3 and we still got blown out.

We have NO inside presence at all which is putting too much pressure on the 3 and 4 position. Our defense at the wing and point position is just as bad but its not quite as obvious. We must get a discount on jocks because we are replacing ours almost everytime down the floor. Pathetic D and basic box out fundamentals.
