Bruce Pearl to television?

Bruce Pearl keeps his options open (with pre-game slideshow, 1987 celebration video) | TheGazette

Good article on Pearl. From article:

He hopes to work in television possibly as soon as next season.

“I hope I get a chance to do television next year and see if I’m any good at it,” he said. “If I am and if I like it, it might be something I’ll stay with. We’ll see.”

Pearl will be great on TV, no doubt.
He was born to analyze bb.

I think he will do it for awhile, and then work his way back to coaching, which is in his blood.
I doubt the BTN will hire him, tho,as the Illini would throw a fit.

Re: Bruce Pearl to television?

Pearl to the broadcast booth? Does that remind you of anyone else? Jimmy V. is beloved now because he was a nice guy, great in the broadcast booth, and he died at a tragically young age compared to what one should. That being said, he was kind of shady as a coach and the type of guys he recruited and how he disciplined his team.

I am not trying to denigrate his memory, but that is pretty much an accurate assessment. Some guys shouldn't be college coaches because they aren't good with the rules part of the college game. That doesn't mean they aren't great coaches or bad people.

Re: Bruce Pearl to television?

I have had the chance to interview Bruce about 7 or 8 times. Van Coleman and I used to have him on our 'Talkin Future Stars' program regularly. I felt then that he would be one of the best analysts on TV. Still think that way. He would be perfect for it.
