possible lineup this fall
Gesell 6'1 top 100 by all sites
Oglesby 6'5 top 150 player by all sites, sharpshooter from 3, 5th returning scorer at 7.8ppg
Marble 6'7 top returning scorer on the team, at 11.5 ppg
White 6'8 BT and National All freshmen team 2nd returning scorer on the team at 11.1 ppg
Woodbury 7'1 Top 50 player and NBA Camp MVP
as far as the bigs need a year to develope i don't believe it. the players success or lack of, is based more on motivation and how they develope over the summer and fall drills.
Woodbury wasn't just handed the Top 50 rankings or the MVP award out of a cracker jacks box.

Re: possible lineup this fall
I am curious to know what Woodburys vertical jump is. He doesnt look like he comes very far off the ground.

Re: possible lineup this fall
There will of course be some growing pains with the freshmen but there is more gain than loss considering what we lose. I really think 2 seasons from now is when they'll really shine. I'm expecting a sweet 16 or better that year as long as everything stays in one piece. :-)

Re: possible lineup this fall
not sure on Woodbury's vertical, but with his reach on him from the soles of his feet to his fingertips has to be pretty close to 10', so he won't have far to jump to dunk it.
i will look to see if its been mentioned somewhere.
one place i read that in a 3 game stretch he avg'd 9 blocks per game, this was from someone that went to watch him play as he lives close to SC, and the IHSAA does not keep blocked shots as a official stat.
if i remember right they were 7-9-11. not in that order

I don't think I would dismiss Basabe as a starter quite yet.

Re: possible lineup this fall
i am not writing Basabe off as a starter. its just it is hard to picture a lineup with hinm in there if White is to be the 4.
with my original thought of a lineup of
Gesell
Marble
White
Basabe
Woodbury
that would be a very solid lineup, but i have a hard time putting Basabe or McCabe in over White, and i still think you don't recruit a Top 50 7' center to have him sit on the bench

Re: possible lineup this fall
another player i heard about is this Lockett kid from ASU that could transfer in as a 1 n done player, heard he was ASU's leading scorer, he could affect the starting lineup and keep the 2nd scholly for next year open, so what's the word or is he ISU bound as i heard 2 players transfered out.

Re: possible lineup this fall
i think when the season starts pg will be the only spot where a frosh starts from day 1. i believe basabe or mccabe start at the 5 to begin the year and woodbury takes it over like 8-10 games into the yr.
woodbury is still very raw in his abilities. he is very solid and has great upside that is why he can win an mvp of that nba camp already but bigs take more time to develop. maybe he comes in like zeller did but zeller has more athleticism and polish than i have seen from woodbury. hopefully he can play like zeller but i feel he is closer to miles leonard. though leonard ended up getting pretty good his soph season.

I attend to believe early in the season that McCabe will be your starter with the rest of the guys listed above. Then Woodbury will get the nod.

Re: possible lineup this fall
The above is the likely line-up and here's why:
Marble and White are obviously safe bets. Fran has said he's going to play Woody and Gesell whether they're ready or not. They also fit needs in the line-up like a glove. Oglesby's shooting is going to be tough to get out of the top 5. He's likely the 5th player barring a frosh, transfer, or PF taking the SF spot. Those situations are, of course, possible but right now I'll believe it when I see it. I'm assuming May isn't going to suddenly get healthy and become a player. May's situation is probably the primary reason Fran's looking for a transfer. Basabe, McCabe, Clemmons likely to fill out main rotation. The nice thing here is other players are certainly capable of surprising: Olaseni, Meyer, Ingram, so there's going to be lots of pieces that could come together if the first options don't work out. This is especially nice given Fran's stated goal of focusing on D next year, something not all players want to do.

Why hold him, back.throw him in there from day one!A work in progress could be the best center we've ever had!!

Re: possible lineup this fall
I see White as a 3 and Marble as a guard
Marble needs to spend all summer shooting ... with his skills he could be all american if he develops a better stroke... straightening the curves ...

Re: possible lineup this fall
The starting lineup really doesn't matter. White and Marble are locks but beyond that who knows. Who cares, the good thing is there will be a lot more options. If I had to guess I think Woody will be similar to White in his playing time and when he decides to start him. It's gonna get fun here in a couple years. Maybe next year.
