Tom Davis Article in the PC

I love Tom Davis but Pat Harty's article trying to show all of his former players that are now coaching is comical.

He actually includes guys that are coaching in HS and I am not even counting the college assistants that he also lists.

Aside from Bowen, Rodell Davis, and maybe even Settles the list really isn't that impressive and it isn't like it is uncommon for former athletes to get into coaching at lower levels.

The actual paper has pictures of all the guys, and includes a couple ex coaches like Kenyon Murray.

I know, what's the big deal I just find the title of the article and the "story" to be kind of lame.

Agree, that coaching tree was pretty weak. The asst's are at low mid-majors and the Head coaches are at schools that are not any good.

That was kind of my point. I don't have a problem with them doing a Tom Davis story but the headline on the front page of the PC sports page is:

Godfather of the game

Godfather of the game???? Are they F'ing serious? And then to have Acie Earl as Solon assistant basketball coach listed as one of the many players that have become coaches. It's just laughable.

Why would anyone look down on high school coaches or asst, coaches? Where did most coaches start? As the head coach of Iowa, or Ohio State?

I enjoyed the story, but the title is misleading. He could have titled the story as more of a Davis's players still enjoying the game but from different perspective.
