Cole's pretty seasoned. I'm not surprised he was a difficult matchup for AW. I would expect Cole to come out on top of that match up right now...and maybe for the next couple of years.

Cole played very well tonight. He finally has that 15-18 footer falling after hearing every off-season while he was at Iowa how much it had improved, though it never manifested in games.

FWIW, McCabe was POG of that game. 6 3s, 3 in the first 3 minutes.

2 frickin points in basically a pickup / summer league game? Cmon. After all the hype? Let's hope this was a case of opening nite jitters (if such a thing exists at the PTL level).

White was everywhere. He played a great game. He got less aggressive on offense in 2nd half, looked a little tired. But in the middle of the 2nd half his team made a come back and he had 3 or 4 nice dunks.

Woody played well even if he only had two points. His technique with both hands is very impressive. He was almost too patient at times, allowing 2nd defender. He needs to get a stronger grip on the ball but his passing for a big man is incredible.

He was also surprisingly physical with Cole. J.Cole did a lot of his damage when AW was on the bench, but when they were both going at it, Woody did not get pushed around.

He will struggle with fouls though, he holds and grabs in pretty obvious spots.

Don't expect big numbers from Adam, but he will help his team win from day one with his passing out of the double. He really greases the wheels of the offense.

Anyone have a link to the posts following Aaron Whites first PTL performance last year?

The notion that Woodbury is in any way a project is laughable. Hes an extremely polished player for his age and size but will need to get stronger and in better shape.

What I hope out of Woodbury his first year:

Be a presence in the paint on offense and defense
    Control defensive rebounds
Outlet to start fast breaks off those rebounds
    Run the floor
    Set picks
Demand attention in the post and find open players.
And, least important IMO, he should score from time to time

Even if he doesn't score much the rest of the summer it won't bother me much for this reason, as I am guessing his value to the team especially in the first year will be more about intangibles.

    Re: PTL Highlights...

They really seem to pack it in in the lane in the PTL and the style of play in not really conducive to post scoring. Again Cole was really banging with AW and I thought Adam held up to him pretty well, fouls not withstanding. The defense was jumping every post entry pass. With Basabe and Stokes length jumping the pass, along with battling Cole on the block they had a really hard time getting the ball to AW on the block, and when they did he usually was doubled. Had a few really nice interior passes to teammates cutting from the top of the key down the lane. I don't know that he will ever be a scorer, there aren't to many scorers that play on the block anymore.

FWIW Andre Murphy looked like if he wasn't 5' nothing he could be a player. He is lightning quick and really impressed me. He gave Gesell some fits with his defensive quickness. Basabe looked BAD, I thought.

Whoever tried to prematurely diss Stiles' work is obviously a derp and probably criticized Adam Woodbury after a f***in PTL game (BasketballDerp). Anyway, for the rest of you, check out the nice write up and great videos/interviews from yesterday's action:

You do know that the PTL is not exactly a big mans type of game, from what I have seen alot of the time the big guy does not even touch the ball down low. TO make any kind of a comment like this after a single PTL game is a joke.

If anyone is known for being able to evaluate the talent of Iowa's big men, it's Duff. Hopefully Woodbury is ready to go next year so he can replace Basabe after he moves onto the league.

I have to agree. It is hard for a big man to get involved in a guard driven three point only type of game like is played in the PTL.
