Re: Olaseni
Only Herby can argue what garbage minutes are. Anyone else with a brain watching a game knows what is loosely termed as garbage time. Stop being a jag and arguing about things that the basic basketball fan understands. If Darius Stokes is in the game and Gabe is blocking shots that is the definition of garbage time.

Re: Olaseni
in 2 games he has played 26 minutes got 15 points, 10 rbds, and 5 blks. and considering he played a total of 90 minutes in 18 games and had 26 pts, 22 rbds, and 8 blks.
he is doing pretty good
on the young season he has 19 pts, 25 rbds and 10 blks in 69 minutes of play thru 9 game.
he is improving everygame

Re: Olaseni
Gabe was not on the floor when stokes got in. and for the record Iowa was up by 13, 61-48 when Gabe came in, when Gabe came in they outscored SD 23 - 15 with Stokes and company finishing the game,
to make the final score 87-63, I don't call coming in with a lead of 13 points garbage minutes, with the way they were hitting 3's, it would take just 4 shots to make a close game out of it
but please keep trashing the kid since it makes you feel good

Re: Olaseni
I don't think anyone is trashing the kid...just being honest. He shouldn't be playing basketball for a high major team. That's just the bottom line. If you can't see that you have no clue about basketball.
It's okay to say that too. Most high major teams have guys on the team that really shouldn't have gotten a scholarship. Olaseni is just one of those guys.

Re: Olaseni
He’s got high major size and athleticism, that is fairly obvious. What he doesn’t have yet is the necessary skill set/confidence to play B1G ball. With time he’ll be a serviceable big guy who can play solid d and have an occasional momentum-swinging jam.

Re: Olaseni
I know everyone is cheering for Gabe, but you got to go by the numbers here people. How often do you see a guy average 1 point and 2 rebounds in his second year turn out to be a solid contributor down the road? Keep in mind the competition Iowa has played so far minus the WSU and VaTech games have rivaled some high school teams.
I'm sure there have been times where a guy has blown up between his sophomore and senior year, but it doesn't happen too often. You can pretty much tell how good the player is going to be from the minute they arrive on campus for basketball.

Re: Olaseni
I don't necessarily agree with this. Olaseni was known as a VERY raw talent from the beginning. If anyone can make a big leap forward, it's a guy who has a lot of the athletic tools and needs to learn the techniques, etc.
By no means do I expect to see performances like this on a consistent basis. But he's faced similarly poor competition several times this year, and didn't look anything like he did tonight. I'm not so much concerning myself with the actual production; the progress is the more important thing here, IMO.Response to Coker Thread hater:
This thread was born from humble beginnings. A simple question was asked, and d-bag decided to answer it in a condescending manner. We then proceeded to chastise him. Since then a myriad of topics have ranged from the sensible (Who would win in jousting, Tony Mo or Moped Man?), to the ludicrous (STATE actually landing an attractive woman ). You sir, are a clonebag, attempting to bring us down! This will not be permitted nor tolerated. RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!

Re: Olaseni
Garbage time or not, what I found encouraging was the comfort level he showed in a game. He hasn't looked like that at all. This was a step we were waiting to see out of him and he will be able to grow and learn from that. He will be getting some solid minutes this year.
