As long as the starting 5 can stay out of foul trouble, this team can hang with anyone. Oglesby had a couple key 3's and even May and Mccabe chipped in with key baskets off the bench. I think Oglesby is a liability on defense. The starting 5 is truly solid. I think the key to this team being successful will be good, but few minutes from the bench. Mccabe, Basabe, and Oglesby are going to have the step up their games.

I will be the first to admit that I am extremely cynical and hard on this team especially on twitter, but I was very impressed with the intensity and emotion from this team tonight. That same emotion was lacking in the two losses. This team can only get better and will be SCARY good next season.

    Right on.

Iowa is definitely a crock-pot vs a microwave team this year.

I disagree about teams no having a pulse
WKU is 7-2 on the season and may win their conference and be in the dance
right now most are at .500 with just 2 with 2 wins, even CMU is 4-3, this is a brand new season, things do change

So Iowa wins one game in the last 4 meetings in basketball and all of the sudden they are dominant now, huh? Interesting how that works.

I just hope the Iowa fans support this team when the B1G teams are laying them to waste this year. I hope Carver doesn't become a morgue again and you have to resort to handing out free pizza, free ice cream, and stuffed animals to your students to get them to show up? This team deserves better than that.
Make no mistake about it, Iowa is going to dominate the Clowns for years to come. The Iowa team that put ISU away was a young team. You and the rest of ClownNation will have to get used to seeing these same guys for a while. Enjoy!

Gesell looks more comfortable at the #2.

In a sport where 1 superstar player can have a dramatic impact on a team's success, it's crazy to say that 1 team or the other is going to dominate.

Remind me when we last had a seven foot true freshman who showed Woodbury's skills (not just flashes)?

    Maybe Michael Payne in 1981-2.

Funny. Clone fan saying they hope Iowa fans support this team when they are playing the best of the best in the country. What's that say about ISU when you just lost by 9 to a team that will get laid waste to by teams in the best conference in the country?

As for your football anamoly, this isn't even close. Iowa shot like garbage from three and still rolled the kids fom Ames by nine. No matter how good or bad Iowa football plays when ISU wins, it is always by a point or three. When Iowa is decent in football, ISU loses by 14 or more. Iowa football was terrible this year and ISU won by three. Congratulations on your great win. The Big 12 is by far the most overrated conference in the country in football this year.

Iowa football will be back soon and it appears Fran will get things rolling soon. Enjoy your day in the sun because it always ends very quickly when you are a Clonestar.

Sorry to bash you but we deserve better than your knowledge.

Gesell: Will struggle against athletic guards this year but the thing I like about him is he forgets bad plays. Just flushes them.

Clemmons: May turn out to be the steal of the class. Van Coleman said not to sleep on his offense when he was signed...and he is showing some skills there...his assist to turnover total so far this year is out of this world and he is a good on ball defender.

White: Quickly moving up my personal ranks of favorite Iowa players ever. Love watching that kid play.

One thing I noticed: Woodbury looks like a natural leader.looked like team often was fueled by his excitement.

Woodbury doesn’t get enough credit for how hard he works to get position and how successful he is at getting it - makes those 3-5ft hooks a lot easier.

Really didn’t expect the Clemmons/Luscious matchup going our way.

Let's not forget to give kuddos to Fran & Co for not hesitating to start Clemmons & Gesell instead of being married to the idea of Mike as THE point guard with Anthony serving as the backup. Also, keep in mind that Mike has only been learning the #2 spot in this offense for a couple of weeks as he was not expected to play there at all heading into the season so I think that tandem will only get better as they become more comfortable being on the floor at the same time.

Jon, so what you are saying is that you like White and he reminds you of Bartels, if Bartels were a couple of inches taller and had more offense

And man, re Woodbury, you are right re his half hook. He isn't quite refined, but his shooting skills are pretty nice already. While he is weak right now, as you have previously pointed out and Bonner did tonight as well, he still gets a pretty good amount of rebounds when you look at the minutes he plays. Put that rate at 27 minutes a game and he is pulling down 7 to 8 per game.

Once these guys start playing something higher than above average defense they could be really good. If only we could play that kind of D this season...we'll see., I guess. Clemmons can set the tone there, and I am pumped to see his development.
    Go Hawks!!!!
