Obviously, you didn't read the article.
"Things are changing and you're not really sure what's going to happen," Paterno said. "I don't know where we're going to end up. There might be even some speculation that Penn State maybe ought to get into something different, or we ought to try to go out and get some people from the East to come into the Big Ten."
Penn State President Graham Spanier quickly addressed the speculation. “The Big Ten does not contemplate a change and feels very secure in its current arrangement; this applies to all 12 of our members, including Penn State.”
Spanier addressed this issue because of comments made by Joe Paterno during his Tuesday teleconference where he mentioned that the move was good for both schools and said “There might even be some speculation that Penn State maybe ought to get into something different, or we ought to try to go out and get some people from the East to come into the Big Ten.”
A move to the ACC would be very close to admitting defeat. Nobody thinks that the ACC is nearly as good of a football conference as the Big Ten, and their additions of Pitt and Syracuse do nothing to improve that notion.
