Ostrich. If it's somehow Iowa vs Penn State in the Big Ten Championship game, I don't care if the "country squirms". Like people didn't squirm during LSU vs Alabama? I guess this munch has his finger on the pulse of the nation's squirm factor.

Idiotic article.
Truly, I've lost my respect for ESPN.

Re: Didn't take ESPN long to jump on the B1G...
I really don't see what the problem is. I've thought much of the same stuff for weeks. The Big Ten is not very good, folks. We aren't that good, Michigan ain't that good, MSU isn't that good. Quite a few solid teams, and one or two good ones, but no great ones.
Nobody but Iowa and PSU fans would be happy with that matchup. With last night's game, there actually are people who love to watch great defense, just like there are baseball fans who would prefer to watch a pitchers' duel rather than a slugfest. And those people got a real treat last night.

Some of you people are way too sensitive. This year the Big Ten is weaker than it's ever been. Either way, there's no conference I'd rather watch, but i don't get all whiny if someone says something about it.

Re: Didn't take ESPN long to jump on the B1G...
I am not a ESPN fan but I thought it was a very good article and accurate. It seems like every time we think a team is going to come on strong they get knocked down. The only team that looks good is Wisconsin and that's when they play at home. Penn State has a really good defense and a good defense can stop a good offense as proven by LSU/Alabama. Perhaps they are the best the Big Ten can offer this year. Iowa could very well upset MSU at home and then turn around and get upset at Purdue. This season is crazy and no one seems to want to step up and take control of the Legends.

I really hope whoever plays in the NC game against the SEC winner (probably LSU) just destroys them by at least 30 points. ^ the SEC and ^ ESPN.

Re:Didn't take ESPN long to jump on the B1G...
If the SEC didn't have a clear front runner similar to BIG 10 this year it would be because that conference has such hard nose defenses and dynamic offenses. Each week would be a toss up because no team is inferior, gets old listening to people swing from the SEC sack... Ofcourse there are good teams in SEC, but there also equally talented teams in other conferences. They act as if whoever plays the winner of the "game of the century" doesn't have a shot, similar to the yr USC was compared to a NFL team and lost to Texas. Big 10 still has quality teams and it will show when bowls come around.

Re: Didn't take ESPN long to jump on the B1G...
If you guys are upset by that you're lucky you didn't read the one from late summer when Forde suggested the division names should be Liars (wealth of B10 teams' off the field issues) and Losers (because of the B10's bowl performance last season).
As for this article, I'm not sure why people are so mad. Everything mentioned is pretty accurate.

Alabama and LSU are in a whole other league.
Remember the year everyone acted like Florida didn't have a shot against Ohio State? Then Urban Meyer and Florida absolutely dominated OSU winning 41-14.
The SEC isn't that good top to bottom? How's having 5 different teams win BCS titles... Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee.
The SEC runs circles around the Big 10 and the gap is growing even wider. I get so tired about people saying the Big 10 is a physical conference and the SEC is not as physical. Did you watch LSU vs Alabama? That's physical football with more speed. Those two defenses are better than any defense the Big 10 has ever had in it's history.
Yes that's right. LSU and Alabama's defenses this year are better than any defense a Big 10 team has ever put together.

You mean like the Big Ten has shown how strong it is in bowls the past few years? If you're waiting for bowl season to be your saving grace, you're very likely to end up disappointed.
And so what if ESPN is biased towards the SEC? We've known this for quite some time now. The conference has won 5 straight titles. I think they've earned it. Especially considering that they have two NC-caliber teams this year.

The B1G Ten may not be very good this year but could the B1G Ten ever get any un-biased coverage from ESPN and ever be good?
ESPN (and CBS, the other major player) in college football are still so ****** off that the B1G Ten formed their own network.
Step back all you experts and imagine objective journalism.
None, won't happen ESPN wants to make millions more with the LongHorn network and screw the rest of the Big XII (10 and as it dwindles to 8).
No one really knows how any one is any good in college football until they start playing non-conference games in November... Alabama at Wisky, Penn State at Florida, LSU at Iowa, Ohio State at Texas.
Hopefully you get the point.
Along with that... the SEC and PAC XII have to play a bowl game outside of their region and more than 300 miles from campus.

In any given year, the SEC isn't always very strong top to bottom. Right now, they have 'Bama and LSU, and then it drops off to Arkansas, and then it drops off to SC and Georgia. And then you're left with a whole lot of average at best.
And Tennessee won a title, but they haven't been relevant in nearly 10 years. They pretty much suck now.
