PSU President resigns

While it's likely an interim positions to start, BWI's Nate Bauer is reporting that Graham Spanier will submit his resignation tonight to the BOD, to be replaced initially -- and perhaps permanently -- by current Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Rodney A. Erickson. Erickson's current stint at Penn State began in 1999; his role has been running academic operations. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Minnesota

damn right he needs to go and I also don't understand how Spanier is not facing charges of covering this up along with Curley and Schultz.

Spanier may yet be charged. Stay tuned, PJ.

Re: PSU President resigns

Even if Spanier had no knowledge on the things that occurred with Sandusky and the actions, or lack thereof, by McQueary, Paterno, Curley, Shultz, etc. where the hell was he this week? He's just another guy from PSU who was supposed to be a leader but showed zero leadership in all this. The only statement that I remember coming from him this week was his "unwavering support" for Curley and Shultz which was a huge mistake on his part btw. That statement alone warrants his ousting.

CHS, I'm thinking it likely that the Board told him to STFU after that statement.

Everything everybody from that university had said since the story broke has just come across as pitiful.

Completely agree. Still, he was given the position as the President of Penn State. It's on him to take leadership and answer the questions and take the punches. Instead, he made an incredibly stupid statement and then went into hiding. Meanwhile the school he's supposed to be leading has fallen into a place of un-holy chaos and rage.

Lets hope so, as CHshawk noted that really was stupid when he came out with "unconditional support" for Curley and Schutz.

Awesome signature Vin
