Sandusky and McQeary fundraiser

Middle of the way through the article it speaks to a fundraiser both attended on 3/28/02, just 26 days after the shower incident. I wonder how that conversation went.

Re: Sandusky and McQeary fundraiser

I initially felt a little bad for the situation McQeary found himself in, but the more I read the more it seems as though he was willing to keep the lips shut for his own self interest. I cannot fathom another reason why he ever would.

Huh?

McQueary was the starting QB in like '96-'97. Sandusky retired in '99.

I've read far too many articles lately, so, no, I didn't read this one.

Flag-football game. Ugh. I'm surprised Sandusky himself wasn't playing, although maybe that's because not everybody is a coward like McQueary and they would actually stomp his *** for grabbing them inappropriately.

Sure seems like McQueary was just as complicit as JoePa and the rest of the PSU brass in this coverup.

The difference was McQ was 21 at the time of the incident and probably wasn't sure what to do. Joe Pa was 70 and I am sure that McQ would have done whatever Joe Pa wanted him to do.

Not excusing what McQ did because he should have stopped it but you know who was in charge of PSU and it wasn't McQ

I'm not sure why he's still employed by Penn State.

For the 100,958 time Mcqueary was 28 at the time of the incident in 2002...

I have heard different stories, but I thought that McQ was 28 when he walked in on Sandisgusting and the boy.

Either way, I'll excuse his inactions that night, because I'm sure he was in shock, but by the time he woke up the next morning, it should have been clear to him that he should have called the police. Period.

Re: Sandusky and McQeary fundraiser

Grand jury report states MM's age as 28 when the incident occurred.

I can give MM a pass for not stopping it, but then he basically helped cover it up.

Re: Sandusky and McQeary fundraiser

McQueary is clearly reponsible for doing something. BUT...if he did as has been reported and went to Paterno, that's where the blame shifts.

Paterno should have said "Ok, son. Let's go. We have to take care of this. Don't worry, I've got your back"... gotten into the car with him and gone to the police...Sandusky's house...or at least the AD. That's what Joe Paterno "The myth" would have done...the right thing. Instead...the coverup began.

After that, McQueary is screwed. If he goes to the cops on his own... his life is literally in danger. One only need look at what went on Wednesday night in State College to know that's not an exageration.

That doesn't aleviate him of responsiblity...but it certainly begs the question..Why didn't he speak up? What was he afraid of? If he was truly brought up in this "culture of integrity and morality" that is Penn St... why would he not act accordingly. There's a good reason, and it's more than just "he's a P O S".

And that's why Paterno is ultimately to blame.
