Pretty laughable if you really think about it. Sounds like they got "their" guy. Definitely feel for the current players, and is there still no rule in place yet for them to transfer penalty free?

Re: Looks like Penn State has their coach

Penn State fans and former players appear to be taking it well.

Scout.com: O'Brien has agreed to be head coach

A sampling of early reaction:

Top story on ESPN.com. Mortensen.
This is s***

I'm reserving a bit of hope it's not true. If it is, vomit. They should have hired Tom Bradley.

Oh god!!!! this *****. What the hell? Joyner just said tonight that they're still interviewing people.

<angry smilie hitting head on wall>

just got ill....

Re: Looks like Penn State has their coach

Reading the comments on the link it quickly becomes obvious that the PSU faithful haven't yet fully grasped the grave situation their football program is in.

Penn State is in full melt down mode. Rittenberg retweed Arrington saying he was taking down all of his Penn State stuff before OBrien was announced.

Fowler finally had to say that the school was having trouble marketing the job.

There is still a B1G investigation to go.

Penn State hasn't gotten an NCAA penalty, but they may as well have gotten the death penalty. A coach who isn't exciting anyone, who won't step foot on campus until after signing day. It's not a good time to be at that school.

I would wager that their enrollment goes down also.

Agree on all points.

Everyone involved in the situation is delusional. The program there is over.

If that program is truly "over" as stated above, it's another blow to the conference. Perhaps another new member is needed but I have no idea what good football school would want to join us.

Re: Looks like Penn State has their coach

Well, unfortunately, in the meantime, from a selfish point of view, it's really too bad PSU is not on our schedule after this year for 2013 and 2014. It always felt good to beat PSU, like Mishitigan, regardless of why. Then again, the possibility of losing would probably feel like the losses to Minny.

I really don't see any reason that the BIG shouldn't kick them out for another school.

Re: Looks like Penn State has their coach

The only way PSU fans would've been happy is if they hired somebody connected to PSU... which is the last thing PSU needed or wanted.
