Could Rutgers wind up with better coach than Penn St?

It's being suggested on the twitter webz that in only a matter of days since Greg Schiano announced he was leaving for the NFL, Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti could wind up with a better replacement for the Scarlet Knights than Penn State did its vacancy after a three-month search. Based on the traditions of both programs, it seems it should be the other way around, although admittedly Happy Valley had become toxic as a result of the child rape scandal.

Still, looks like Pernetti is preparing to hit a lead-off homerun here: well-liked Cuban-American coach, good recruiter who knows how to tap talent-rich Florida and New Jersey as well as other states, someone who could halt any exodus of Schiano's top recruits.

Phew, I had heard they might be talking to the longest tenured offensive coordinator in the B10.

Goatees are fine--as long as they are not brown.

It's a swing and a miss for Pernetti; Cristobal, his brown hair and goatee are staying put.

With what has happened at Penn State I would not be shocked if Rutgers football program passes Penn State. The effects on the PSU program only begun.

Honestly, I would be surprised. People have short memories and JoePa is gone. Maybe in the short term they pass PSU, but I just don't see long lasting effects at PSU.
If I am wrong, it won't be the first time.

Kyle Flood accepts Rutgers HC job.

Hiring from within.

Might be worse for the prospects with Quanzell Lambert, fwiw.

As a Cuban-American, with the last name Cristobal, no shock that man is staying in the State of Florida. Unfortunate for him that the Cubans are not that into American Football.

I was referring to players for recruiting purposes.

This wouldn't greatly surprise me, as Penn State is a disaster. That said, i can also see Sportstalent's point. People are stupid and might forget about all the rape stuff.

I'm sure Ken was at the top of the list but his loyalty to Iowa and KF over rode his decision to be a head coach. Schools are looking for his kind of offensive genius...The best seven plays in college...
