It seems as though with each passing day, I become more anxious for football season to start. I often talk Hawkeye Football in my daily life, and many tell me that I'm addicted. So be it. I'm a football, and particularly a Hawkeye Football addict. Here are a few things that I cannot wait for that September 3rd morning:

1. Tailgating: There's nothing better than setting up the canopy tents at 6 in the morning to prepare for the upcoming game. Sharing in stories, laughter, and most importantly Hawkeye pride to get everyone involved prepared for the game. In Iowa, we take it to an entirely different level with the pride in our football team, and I think everyone involved with the program, including the fans takes great pride in that. I look forward to the grilling, cracking beers at 7 in the morning, and enjoying a football Saturday the way it should be.

2. Back in Black: For every Hawkeye fan, hearing this song in the offseason kind of gets the blood pumping a little bit. Hearing it in Kinnick Stadium with more than 70,000 other Hawkeye faithful, now that's something special. It gives me chills to think about it, and I highly anticipate it each and every Saturday. Often in the offseason I watch youtube videos of the entrance to the Stadium, and it seriously runs chills up and down my spine. The roar of the guys running out onto the field is something that Iowa fans everywhere endulge in and enjoy.

3. Touchdowns: Everybody loves a Hawkeye touchdown, and everybody knows that they have a specific letter to scream after one of these touchdowns. So after Marvin McNutt grabs a TD grab, knowing that I am an A just makes me smile. The I-O-W-A chant is another part of Hawkeye Football that just makes game day oh so special. It's a proud tradition for the Kinnick faithful.

4. Hawkeye Pride: A Hawkeye fan takes great pride in Iowa, especially in the Football. If you've been to Kinnick, you understand the awesome traditions, what it means to be a Hawkeye, and how special it really is.

So fight, fight, fight for IOWA!

GO HAWKS GO!
