There comes a time in every Hawkeye fans life where you ask yourself, "Which away game should I travel to since we are so friggen awesome?" You ponder in your head, should I even go? Will I have to take Friday off work? Are the other fans cool? Will I be killed? Where would I even park to tailgate? Well wonder no more my little Hawkeye fans, here is a list of away games and the pro's and con's to that road trip.
Saturday September 18th @ Arizona
Pro's-
1. While warm weather is always a plus and getting away from Iowa in JANUARY is on everyone's mind, dry heat can always be a plus.. in September? err, maybe?
2. Night game! Yes! Game time at 9:30pm Iowa City time, 7:30pm AZ time! By that time you should already almost be passed out, hung over and well on your way to the 3rd celebration of the day which is VICTORY!
3. Arizona chicks are pretty hot and for you ladies so are the dudes.
4. The best thing to do in AZ is party.. And the fact that Tucson is a mere 7 hours from Vegas.. well never mind that. haha
Con's-
1. While it being "hot, dry" heat was a little bit of a pro, it is also a con considering when I think about football I think of hoodies, mittens, and alcohol that makes me warm inside. Which is how I want to feel mid September!
2. Distance. Let me just say this. When I typed in google maps. Iowa City, Ia to Tucson, Az. It didn't even give me the miles in bold print. It gave me 1 day 2 hours for a grand total of over 1500 miles. I don't know about you but if I am traveling that far its going to be to a BCS bowl game with a beach. Dig it?
3. LAMEO fans. Nothing is better than Big 10 country. My suggestion about road tripping to AZ is only if you have family out there. Yeah, its that lame. Say it with me 1 days and 2 hours in the car, I have done a trip like that, not fun with the same people sometimes, pick your car load well!
Saturday October 16th @ Michigan
Pro's-
1. If you have never been to a game at the Big House I suggest you go, its ginormous, and there is a ton of history there.
2. Mid October in Michigan is like that of Mid October in Iowa. My favorite time to tailgate, not too cold yet and not too warm, PERFECT tailgating weather!
3. Michigan still kind of sucks so count that as a win!
4. The road trip isn't so bad either! In about 7 and a half hours you will make your way from Iowa City to Ann Arbor!
5. Michigan fans love to party as much as Iowa Fans. Ann Arbor is friendly to the other schools fans with your occasional ****** bag, but hey, we have a few of them too. If you don't recall it was the Michigan game that got the beloved Lot 6 shut down and everyones lovely t-shirts for the opposing team. R.I.P lot six.
Con's-
1. Ticket prices are around 65.00 if you can find a ticket, scalping them would be more, hotel, gas and your drunken night at the bars could be a little pricey for a college student. If you are all grown up, price is still a little high.
2. I heard a rumor about this chick up there, Her name is Ann Arbor they say shes a bit of a whore but at least she puts out?
3. Congestion in the area. The Big house seats 109,901, if you figure ALL of those people and then people that don't even make it to the game, thats a lot of dang people!
4. Michigan fans are fed up. They hate losing as much as we do but they have gotten used to the fact that they suck and need to turn it around. SO, after last years win over them, they may hate you and want to throw you down the bleachers. Careful up there Hawkfans come home SAFE!
Saturday November 6th @ Indiana
Pro's-
1. Easy win. enough said.
2. Bloomington knows how to party whether they win or lose. They know they suck at football so the same philosophy that Iowa has Indiana also does. "When we have nothing better to do, we might as well drink and party."
3. Road trip isn't so long. This means if you decide to travel with a bunch of people you probably won't want to kill anyone before you actually get there.
4. Ticket prices are crazy cheap. Lets just say you can get about 3 Indiana tickets for the price of like 1 Iowa ticket?
5. Fans have no reason to hate Iowa. We beat them like everyone else therefore no reason to hate so much. LOVE, Embrace and at the end of the day you and your favorite new Hoosier will Make like Rob and Big and be Best friends.
Con's-
1. Even though the price is right, Indiana is no competition. Which means by half time you may be ready to go back out to tailgating and keep your buzz.
2. Red is the most annoying color in the Big 10.
Saturday November 13th @ Northwestern
Pro's-
1. Northwestern is so close you could almost spit from Kinnick to Welsh Ryan Stadium.
2. After a win at Northwestern its close to Chicago and I don't really have to tell you everything Chicago has to offer. More Bars, Clubs, Site seeting.. ect. ect.
3. Ticket prices are dirt cheap since I don't even know if Northwestern has ever sold out their stadium. Last I knew they sold tickets to football and basketball games paired so they could at least sell some of them.
4. If you decided to hook up with a coed from Northwestern your offspring would be pretty smart. just sayin.
5. We have a chance to beat them at home which not only I, but many other Hawk fans would enjoy more than a lava cake from dominoes.
Con's-
1. I like many other Iowa Fans hate that Northwestern has had our number like we have had Penn States. It makes me nervous and games like this almost give me heart attacks.
2. Boring fans and tailgate BUT with more Hawkeye fans than Northwestern Fans it is sure to feel like Melrose, pre 2010.
Saturday November 27th @ Minnesota
Pro's-
1. I love this rivalry, its always such a fun time!
2. New Stadium for people to "break in" the bathroom stalls at.
3. New goal posts?
4. Just north of good ol Iowa City.
5. FLOYD!
6. I once converted Minnesota fans into Iowa fans in Iowa city, Tshirts and all.. They are easy to manipulate, give it a try!
Con's-
1. I really can't think of why anyone wouldn't want to go to this game, its so fun!
So my friends, there you have it! Pick whichever one you "feel" is right for you. Don't let us down though, be a GOOD Hawkeye fan, and make sure you invite them down to Iowa City next season. As we all know, they will never experience anything like Hawkeye football!
