Obviously, the bowl games are important but, we need to get some more expouser in non-conference games during the season. Especially in Texas, Florida, and California. wouldn't mind a "home-and-home" against Georgia. Big name school, rich recruiting state, against a SEC team.

Playing one game against an SEC team at their stadium won't mean much of anything in terms of recruiting in that state. Kids choose team for a number of factors, including proximity to home, winning, playing time, relationship with the coaches, and others. Look at where Iowa recruits. Mostly Big 10 area, with forays into Texas, Florida and the East (New Jersey/Maryland). The kids we pull out of Texas are the ones that aren't offered by the big boys in that state. Rudock is an exception only because Miami didn't offer until after they hired Al Golden. Had Miami been involved with Rudock from the start, I doubt Iowa gets him.
With the move to 9 conference games in 2017, and if Iowa State is still on the schedule, I guarantee we will not be playing any other BCS conference teams out of conference.

I can't imagine that ISU would be off the schedule every year, but maybe every 10 years they play a Home and Home. A guy can wish though. I would like to play Texas Tech and Oklahoma for fun (though I know Stoops and KF don't want that at all)

I agree somewhat but bowl games are still more important, bowl games are based off the success of a season and that is what recruits are looking at more than anything, they are looking at an 8-4, 9-3 or 10-2 team in bowl game and they wouldn't really notice a 2-0 Iowa playing Georgia the 3rd game of the year.

So freshman are allowed to speak with Iowa's press department, but not regular media?

Pretty much. Which makes sense, since if a player says something stupid to SID, it doesn't end up in the eyes of the public. Whereas if that player said something stupid to Hlas, Morehouse, etc., it DEFINITELY ends up in print.

Bowl game exposure also helps that the team is in that neutral location for several days, practicing, press conferences, etc, so those in that area get a heavy dose of information rather than a team flying in a day before the game and then back out, you can guarantee the local media isn't going to do Iowa any favors talking them up over their home team.

Rudock is a great QB and the progam he played in is amazing when it comes to talent.
