Phil Steele bowl projections. . .

Phil Steele

He has Pitt in the Orange Bowl
No At large bid for a second Big Ten team

So is Pitt suppose to be that good this year as well as the Big East that they get two BCS bids? Otherwise i like the little SEC vs. BigTen challenge, but it seems like the lower tier bowls have gotten worse (easier). I would rather see the MTW or the WAC or even a Big East team than anyone in the MAC or CUSA. Anyone?

Assure Steele's predictions will not be 100% accurate.

I doubt he will be 50% correct.

The season hasn't even started yet.

Ding ding ding - we have a winner!

The thought of anyone doing pre-season "bowl projections" is about the most absurd thing ever. I can understand that in the pre-season people are going to try to do a finger in the wind W/L of people's schedules and it seems the natural extension of that is to then try to figure out what bowl everyone will go to...hilarious. Give me a break. I'm going to save these and double check Phil's accuracy at season's end.

BTW, I'm actually a big Phil Steele fan, so this isn't against him. The thought of ANYONE on August 13th saying "I think Pitt will play in the Orange Bowl" is making themselves sound a little stupid.

If it weren't for all the tie-ins nowadays, I think your guess would be right on...but with all the conference tie-ins they have now, it makes the process slightly easier so it'll probably be higher than 8...but not by much!

How can you predict his projections? The season hasn't even started yet.

I also like Steele a lot, but he pegged Iowa's O at #7 in the conference. Really??? There are 6 teams with better O lines than Iowa? Wow, that's astounding.
