Heiar is also leaving Iowa

This is from Kirk

“Wide Receiver Marcus Grant will finish the fall semester and has decided to transfer to a school closer to home. Offensive Lineman Dan Heiar will finish the fall semester and has decided to leave school to pursue other interests. Our coaching staff and players wish Marcus and Dan the very best.”

I'd say that Heiar saw the writing on the wall. The car accident was probably too much for him to over come and there are guys ahead of him.

this.

and not to say there is anything else going on, but we do know that KF has a history of letting guys save face by going on their own terms instead of publicly getting kicked off the team.

Yeah me too and in all honesty all the teams with talent, or really most all teams have lots of defections. All you have to do is pull up Yahoo on a daily basis and you'll see plenty. If memory serves OU has already lost a WR and Rber in recent weeks.

Double check me, but I'm pretty sure that's right....

agreed. I don't think Ferentz is losing too much sleep over his departure.

best of luck to him. Yet another Juco who didn't do squat at Iowa.

Perhaps I'm in the holiday mood but I think you could have stopped at "best of luck to him."

It wasn't meant to be a shot at him. Just an observation about the success level of Juco's at Iowa which is important considering the number of people who want to bring in Juco's for the defensive line.

I remember once a running back for Oklahoma never even made it to the start of classes before he left the team. Or maybe he was a safety?

Re: Heiar is also leaving Iowa

the accident set him back alot and for JUCO's where time is limited, the writing was clearly on the wall
best of luck to him in the future

to make a positive out of him leaving
this now makes a recruiting Oline class of
4* LT Diamond
4* LG Kozan
4* C Boehm
3* RG Keppy
4* RT Ward

that would make for a solid class, to go with Walsh and Blythe from last year

2 of the 5 are committed and if we get 1 of the other 3 we will be very very lucky.

Dang, this sucks to lose 2 recruits from last years class already. I hope this does not continue to be a trend.
