Off Topic Forum Now Opt In to View

We have made it so you have to 'be a member' of that forum to be able to see the new posts on the forum landing page and to take part in the conversations.

click on My Cpanel near the upper right, after logging in.

Then on the left look for Networking Tab, then Group Memberships.

Once there, check the box on the right, then click join group.

This way, posts made in that forum will also show up on the landing page of the message boards for you and you will not have to go search out the Off Topic forum link from the drop down to see the newest posts....for those that do not want to see those on the landing page, you will not because you have not joined the group.

This will keep the landing page mostly about Hawkeye Sports, and make it so those who want to see the Off Topic posts on the landing page can easily do so as well. Thanks

I don't think it is working. When I try it all I see is Politics and then on the right click if I want to "leave" the group.

Nothing about off topic and joining.

Yes, I see that now...working on it as we speak.

This is what I am getting:

"This user's primary usergroup is also listed as a secondary group for this user. Please change the primary group or remove the secondary group."

Not sure what I should be changing or where I should change it.

Worked just fine for me. Before I joined, I did not see any OT posts when I clicked on the forums tab. After I followed the instructions, I 'opted in' as you say and when I click on the forums link now, I see OT posts. Easy enough.

If you follow the instructions at the top of this post, it will work, There are already 24 people that have done so, as I can see from the admin side.

I get that and have done exactly what you have listed, but am still getting that issue. I'll try completely exiting out and logging back in and see if that works.

how about an opt in feature for the audio ads - or at least place them so i don't drag my cursor over it every page scroll..........



it would be sweet to get these political posts to not show up on the main front page - they dominate the landscape. do like cyclown did when they were having issues with the rivalry posts dominating - they didn't come to the front page, just stayed in that forum.
