Interesting post about coaching vs. QB

"you see that it is a long, hard, uncertain road to go from high school QB hypester to moneyed pro"

i've said for years that it's the position that has the least to do with physical ability on the field... therefor making it one of the hardest to Scout

I've also said... I'll take the Coach over the QB nearly every time when it comes to offensive production

Scott Kennedy
Fox Sports / Scout.com
Director of Scouting
Don't know if Scott's right or wrong, but it's thought provoking. The relevance to Iowa FB football should be obvious.

Re: Interesting post about coaching vs. QB

This makes me think of the 98 draft. Might be off on the year. The big talk was who should go number 1, Leaf or Manning. I remember seeing a video of Ryan Leaf throw 9 out of 10 passes through a tire at 30 yards and he definitely had a stronger arm at the time. The Colts took Peyton, citing his maturity and pocket presence. The rest is history.

Someday I hope we can get an offense that schemes to score points instead of scheming to burn time.
