It helps EDIT: an aspiring head coach to formulate a football philosophy and helps to decide who would be good coaches in that philosophy. You gettin' it now?
And why not just be patient and accomplish this with the Patriots organization?
No way do I see Brian leaving his current position with the Patriots to accept a position with the Hawks.

I'm going to try to help. I think what he was saying is Brian has a better chance of climbing the coaching ladder in the Iowa staff than he does in the patriots staff. Meaning he has a better chance at becoming head coach at Iowa than he does in new England. At least that's how I took it

I disagree with the premise. Much more turnover at the Pats than there is at Iowa. How many coordinators have they had in the last 5 years? And Belichik isn't afraid to give young guys shots.

It's possible it was his point. I don't know what his point was, but I do know that it is stupid. I mean, everyone knows that Iowa is where coaches go to develop and New England is where coaches go to stagnate.

He was a pro offensive lineman. TE's do the same thing as O-lineman half the time, pretty good experience if you ask me.
there are a lot of players who dont coach the position they played. sometimes what you did becomes so natural you dont know how to teach it. offensive player teaching defense or vice versa happens more than you know. one of those situations is actually the iowa hc. ferentz is known as a creator of the zone blocking and a great ol coach. yet he played linebacker in college. it isnt above the realm of possibility that brian coach d-line.

i personally believe if brian ever comes to iowa it will be as o-line coach but i wont rule it out. also it looks like woods will be d-line coach and last i checked he was a linebacker but those arent basically the same position so how would he do that? coaches coach and they can usually coach many things and both sides of the ball. they just focus on one to make it simpler on them.

My comment was a response to saying he didn't have experience with TEs. He did as they are half lineman, half receivers.

and im saying experience at the position or a similar position doesnt mean you can coach it. there are many examples of coaches coaching positions they didnt play and sometimes not even related positions. he could easily coach dl or something.

I know what you are saying. Some coaches never even played the sport. Again, that wasn't my point.

Also Kaczenski. Played OL, coaches DL.

Re: KF using the program for leverage?

Since some are trying to interpret my posts, let me also try:

I believe Brian has a greater chance of gaining all kinds of coaching experince at Iowa rather than at NE.
I don't necessarily think Brian would be groomed as Iowa's next head coach. Heck, I'm not sure I like Iowa's current head coach.....

EDIT: and Ghost, believe me, I don't sit up nights thinking how my posts are going to please you. If anything, open up your mind.... and figure it out, just once.

And Ghost, IMO, I don't think (outside of Chad) there are any more hotheaded, rhetorical posters on HN than you.

It's time to relax the 'fro.
