DC by Next Wednesday

Morehouse tweet: "KF said DC by next Wednesday"

Another tweet said DC and other personnel announcements would also come next Wednesday.

I think it's 50/50 that Reese Morgan retires...99% that Levar Woods gets a position title, and likely DL. I am becoming less convinced Phil Parker will be DC. Also think we could see a current position coach move over to share in the role that Levar was filling this year, with other (recruiting-ish) roles...

This leads me to believe that the DC is coming from the NFL and likely from either the Patriots or the Giants. To coincidental that the process has drug on this long and it not to be.

Brian Ferentz to OL coach perhaps? Along with an NFL DC.

Re: DC by Next Wednesday

a point to remember is that Morgan is 63, 2 year from retirement age,
the sceniario i proposed on another site is that EJ wants to spend less time on the road, if this is true, the following might become real.
EJ steps down from coaching TE to become a administration asst and OC and doesn't go on the road to recruit and does not count against coaching staff #'s, this allows Brian Ferentz to come in as a TE coach and get his area of recruiting established.
this allows Morgan to coach till he is 65, at which time BF can step into the OL Coaching job and lets KF either promote another grad asst to TE coach or hire somebody. this allows for a smooth transition when Morgan retires, LaVarr Woods become the new DL coach, and the DC job goes to somebody outside. 3 new hires and other than a little hand wringing by a few online posters, it ends up quite smooth

Re: DC by Next Wednesday

All I can say is hopefully Coach K is being absolutely BRILLIANT with his due diligence this go round. I also hope he is not being myopic or "too loyal" as he continues a great job and ride as the Hawkeye head football coach.. as he makes these KEY assistant hires.

I really know nothing about the brains and work and intangibles that go into such multi million dollar decisions.

Just hopes he makes another great run.. at least 2 to 4 (maybe longer) years in championship games/BCS games and then retires or moves on to the NFL on top.

Not looking so much for another 3 to 4 really down losing seasons that result from decisions being made now.

Wow, I like this thinking. Me thinks KF posts as Herby. Would be great to get some new blood on the staff to reenergize it.
