Mike Martz?

Now that Kinnick has had turf for a couple years he can really bring back his "Greatest Show on Turf" offense again, instead of that cruddy grass my Bears insist on in Soldier.

Thoughts?

Re: Mike Martz?

1. The artificial turf you see today plays nowhere near as fast as AstroTurf (which is what St. Louis has/had when Martz was there).

2. No thank you. Quarterbacks in his offenses take a beating, and we don't have much in the way of quarterback depth right now.

Re: Mike Martz?

Ferentz and Martz would not be very good co-workers.

Re: Mike Martz?

That would make his hiring by the Bears look like a good fit.

Martz is a control freak. He's been let go as OC from several teams because of that.

No chance.

Re: Mike Martz?

I have to admit, as a Bears and Iowa fan even seeing his name here made me itchy. Keep that guy as far away as possible. He's a football dinosaur with an outdated system. He's so smart that he eliminates the TE position as everyone else is emphasizing the TE. No thanks!!!!

they only take a beating when the line isnt very good. kurt warner seemed to stay upright quite a lot. martz doesnt want to run enough for kf. plus martz says he is retired.

Re: Mike Martz?

Mike Martz gets along about as good with strong HC's as Norm Chow does.

Re: Mike Martz?

Marshall Faulk said the reason Martz didn't do that well in Chicago is because he didn't have the talent he's used to. You really think he'd get that in Iowa City?

Re: Mike Martz?

As the board's foremost expert on offensive coordinators, the only former Bears OC I would want is Ron Turner. I think he would provide the most continuity with O'Keefe's winning and proven system.

Marshall Faulk was a GREAT player, but this comment is ******** ... he didn't succeed in Chicago because it took him two years to figure out that 7-step drops don't work any more

Re: Mike Martz?

I'm not saying having Martz would be a bad thing, but get realistic, it's Ferentz for heaven's sake.
