B. Ferentz speaks to Hlas; staying in Boston?

Based on what Brian Ferentz said to Mike Hlas today, it seems he will be staying with the Pats for at least another year. Of course it could be a red herring.

I don't get that. I see a lot of coach speak, and think he'd be in IC if the opportunity presented itself.

Would he still qualify for Section 8 housing?

Here is the quote I was referring to:

“My job is the coach of the New England Patriots’ tight ends. I’m trying to do that to the best of my ability today. What happens in the future, whether a year, two years, 10 years from now, I’m focused on doing my job.”

I just don't think a person would respond in those words if he knew he was going to be announced as part of the HAWKEYE staff later in the week... unless of course it was intentionally done to change the subject.

No offense, but I just don't see that quote amounting to much. If he was moving on, he could not say anything until it was announced. Certainly the above would not preclude him from being named to an Iowa position this week or very soon, assuming that is to happen.

Re: B. Ferentz speaks to Hlas; staying in Boston?

In my opinion his quote sounds more like he is focused upon what his job was or is right now and the future has yet to be written. If he did say anything about leaving New England for Iowa City, it would detract some of the attention from the Patriots and his/their task at hand. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see him take a position with the Hawkeyes.

then you don't know KF. I'm sure he tought BF about coach talk. He's saying what he needs to say. The future could be tomorrow, he's just saying it that way to protect the process more or less. Not saying he'll be a hawk, but nothing in the quote lead me to believe he wont' be.

If you watched the whole process you'll understand why we have no idea what is going on with the coaching search.

I'd like Golfer to weigh in here. As a donor (I think), he seems to have some insight on things going on in the program.

Pretty sure he told Hlas this last week prior to the KOK announcement. I heard Hlas give almost that exact quote on the radio after talking to BF on Media day

I don't read anything in there that says he's staying in NE.

Then you are deeply unfamiliar with coachspeak.

That quote TOTALLY leaves the door open. The classic non-denial denial. Brian has learned well.

I agree. BF is smart. If he has been (or will be) hired at Iowa, he knows it's not his place to announce it. This is something some of our newest recruits could stand to learn.

Eighteen year old kids get excited and sometimes say things they shouldn't be saying.

That said, Johnson isn't the only one who is openly talking about Herrmann possibly becoming Iowa's new DC.
