Re: Rees Morgan to the DL

Guess this opens up a spot as OL coach.

Hmmmm.... who do we know that was in the Super Bowl that may be a candidate for this spot?

My guess is Woods will be LB and defensive special teams (kickoff/punt side) and Erb will be offensive special teams (XP, FG, returns).

I thought Lavar Woods already was the Dline coach. I thought Dline recruits were saying that. Things are getting weird. Why wouldn't Morgan just stay with Oline. We can't make that move just to bring Brian F on board can they?

Re: Rees Morgan to the DL

How does it make sense to move a coach from the offensive side to the defensive side? Disappointing as expected.

Why can't moves be made to bring in staff?

So you think moving a long time Oline coach to the Dline so that a 29 yr old can get his feet wet coaching Oline is a step in the right direction? When the Oline coach is the one that taught the 29 yr old pretty much all he knows about it.

Ok4p, this would be my guess, too, as far as LaVar Woods to linebackers coach. With him having played outside linebacker in the NFL for several years, this actually makes a lot more sense than the DL.

The only thing that that makes me wonder if this will happen is that it hasn't been announced yet, while it's already been announced that the position is open with Darrell Wilson moving to the secondary.

It could work out fine I guess. Time is only thing that will tell. I just don't think it will be a smooth first yr transition.

Since you've asked this question in multiple threads, let's play "You answer mine, I'll answer yours".

Might not a person who has spent 9 seasons coaching against defensive linemen have some insight into what it takes to play that position well?

It's not as if KF is giving a QBs coach D-Line responsibilities.

And now we see the full fruition of KFs ultimate job security. Friendships are more important than the program.

This kind of crap would never happen in any place where a coaches job depended on results.

Its now obvious that KF has no intentions of changing anything on the field. The problems with this team are never going to be addressed or even acknowledged.

More 7-5 seasons with the occasion 10 win mixed in every 5 or so years.

I don't get it. Maybe Parker is a good defensive mind, diligent in game preparation, familiar with the conference, and relates to his kids. I'm sure Phil will have tenancies than Norm. I don't think its fair to judge Phil based on Norm's 2010 absence considering he had to "fill-in" -- ie: run the defense Norm was coordinating. You can create defensive schemes in the middle of the season.

Our 7-5 seasons primarily result from talent dips. Only the 2010 team really under-performed, and several of those losses were the close gut-wrenching kind against good teams. You can blame the coaches for talent dips, but that is a separate issue from scheme.

talent dip? Are you kidding me?

Thats insane.

How much talent does it take for Iowa to win games against the likes of ISu, minesota and nw then? All teams who have sent not even a fraction of the amount of players to the NFL.

Basically your argument can be summed up as Iowa needs to have a sizable advantage in talent to beat average teams.

While I agree this is the case, I think its makes it obvious how far behind Iowa generally is in most aspect of coaching both strategically and motivationaly.
