Has the excitement level of the Iowa fan base officially gotten to a higher level for the basketball program than the football program? With the stale, let's promote from within even after two mediocre seasons strategy of the football program vs. the running, aggressive basketball program with a great incoming recruiting class, does the fan base have more excitement for the direction of the basketball program?

Football is obviously king and Iowa is a football school, but I can honestly say that I'm more confident with the direction the basketball program is going at this point. The arrows seem to be pointing in different directions with the two programs. I can see Iowa making a sweet 16 in basketball before the football team wins another BCS game.

I am definitely more excited about the future of Iowa basketball. Apathy is setting in for me for football. Kind of feels like the end of the Alford era of Iowa basketball right now with football. But if these new roles on the staff pay off, then excitement will return. But right now, Iowa basketball is more promising.
