A new day, some new thoughts.
What an exciting night. I have not been on the boards for a while, and I am away from my computer most of the day, however, I have looked through all the threads, and I want to discuss some points I think have been over looked...
Why did it take so long if this was just going to be an internal hire? You think Kurt would have just made his horrible, no splash hire a long time ago. Instead, we get stuck with a stale coach AND a horrible recruiting class.
Also, why didn't Kurt consider anyone outside of the program? My theory is that it is almost certain some big name inquired about the opening. My sources say that list includes Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, and John Madden among others. However, it is almost certain that Kurt, in an attempt to placate his ego and troll New Mex Hawk, refused an audience with any of them because he didn't want to ruin his and Phil's Valentine's Day plans.

This is an outrage. Ghost, I've known you a long time, and know you to have impeccable sources AND investigative journalism skills. If Bill Cowher wanted to come here (and why wouldn't he?) and Kurt didn't hire him, I think Barta ought to investigate.
Also, I am surprised that you didn't bring up the very important issue of nepotism, since Norm basically demanded that his son be hired as DB coach and that is the only reason he got the job.
Something stinks in the football program. Like Dead Fish.

Re: A new day, some new thoughts.
For one I find it very hard to believe that any of those names mentioned would inquire about the DC job. Maybe the head coach job but not the DC job. While I think KF has a great reputation among the ranks I find it hard to believe that the egos associated with the names would be willing to take a back seat when I am sure there have been many other head coaching jobs that if they just called on it would have been theirs.

Re: A new day, some new thoughts.
Well Ghost. I for one have been wondering about the DC hire since Norm announced. I've almost been completely unable to go on with my life because of all the wondering and pondering I've been doing about this position. And then...what? He names a guy that's already been working there? One that I hadn't really paid much attention to? Disappointment doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. Apathy. I guess I needed to pay more attention. Oh why did he (Kurt) have to wait so long? He did this just to spite me. I know it. And then since I found out...nothing has changed in my life. Absolutely nothing. (except my post count) Everybody's so angry and all, and I feel so... left... out. (sniff)

If only "the Onion" cared about the Hawkeye football coaching search. Fortunately, we have threads like these to make up for that publication's lack of interest.

Like the "real" threads are any less absurd than this?

You're killing me, buddy. You summed up the thread I wanted to start on this topic.

Just start the damn thread. Whatever you have to say is too important to get wasted in the middle of this thread.
