I think we're dumb if we believe that hiring a coach outside of the program would be a guarantee of success that isn't there with the hiring of Phil Parker.

my question is how will you guys feel when/if levar woods is hired as lb coach? because that is kf hiring from within and not changing so you say. if you are happy about woods than you are a hypocrite. i think phil will be very good. was there a better guy for the job (aiken) i thought so. but he was locked up. kf surrounds himself with coaches he trusts. that is what any boss in any business should do. and it has worked for him. has he had down yrs, yes. but most coaches (even good and great ones) do.

Yeah why risk it right? With so many people happy with the way things are there is no reason to go outside of Kurts comfort zone.

Yes, I sincerely hope our next head football coach is more concerned with keeping the general public happy than doing what he believes is best for the program.

The people that don't understand the way the timeline has played out just crack me up. I think it's fair to say Ferentz has a decent track record of hiring coaches. Lets give Parker and whom ever the new OC is a chance before we just start jumping off bridges.

With amazing 7 win seasons its hard to be unhappy with the way things are going. We are just Iowa and we need to trust in Kirk or we can kiss this streak goodbye.

Iowa has been known for doing more with less largely for producing top tier defenses with barely top 50 level average recruiting classes while playing in one of the top conferences. Yet people want to change that? It would be nice to see some wrinkles to help us against the mixed offenses, but wholesale change for the sake of change is flat out stupid. Wanting these OCs just because they were successful at schools that recruit top 15 classes every year, yet still ranked around Iowas in defense and expecting them to repeat that success at Iowa?

Maybe they would, but if it isn't broke, don't fix it. The defense needs tweeks not turns. The offense is where we need the massive improvement.

Look pal, Im fine with the 7 win seasons. Some people seem to think beating Minnesota should be a cake walk, but they are not. Minnesota is good program that has always competed at the highest level. Throw in some tough Indiana and Northwestern programs and you got yourself a tough year. ISU is a powerhouse also. Sometimes the number just dont hit.
