Game reset on the offensive side of the ball

hawkeye12345 had some questions about the offensive side of the ball that I have copied below. Given that this is pretty pressing and I am HN's foremost expert on offense, I wanted to make sure everyone knows where we stand going into the presser:

OL - Open
RB - Erb
QB - Open
OC - Open
WR - Campbell
TE - Don't need a coach - C-Fed

Soup is still on the staff, who else?

I'm asking because it appears that we are poised to make a move on the offensive side of the ball that may set Hawkeye Nation on its ear and part of that process involved cleaning out of the old blood on the offensive side.

Have you considered applying for the OC position? Seeing as how you're our leading expert on offense I'd think you'd be a pretty strong candidate.

Re: Game reset on the offensive side of the ball

David Raih will be promoted to QB coach.
Offensive Line position will go to one of two people:

1) Brian Ferentz
2) Joel Hilgenberg

Hilgenberg is now offensive quality control with packers last I checked. He has been around Iowa program for a long time. Frequently at ppractices etc.

This leaves the problem of who will be OC.

Neither Campbell or Erb are capable of coordinating the offense, at least not proficiently.

The other two are wild cards in that regard.

This is going to be interesting.

I would tend to agree, and doubt that Hilgenberg would leave the Packers.

Depends. Is he still QC with Packers? That is not a very high paying job. At all.

OTOH, if he got bumped up when Philbin left and is coaching a position then that changes things.

He was pretty regularly around the program and at practice until taking the job with the Packers last year.

Eric Johnson is TE coach and recruiting coordinator.

I thinks hes saying that position doesn't matter because fiderowitz will go beast mode all on his own.

Re: Game reset on the offensive side of the ball

Maybe some of you are looking at this in the wrong way.

We need an OL coach and an OC. As mentioned above Soup and Erb are not ready to take on the full responsibility of OC but one will likely get a nice title and pay raise.

If you were looking for an OC (proven so don't throw BF in the mix) that also had OL experience where would you go?

Erb is ready. If he doesn't get it, I will be disappointed.

Todd Haley just took the Pittsburgh OC job. I thought we had a shot. Is Josh McDaniel available? He's a Belichik guy.
