What is it going to take? How bad does it have to get???????
I live in Nebraska and have very few Hawks to talk with out here, so I would like to get a feeling of everyone's opinion.
What is it going to take to get Kirk out of Iowa? Is it just the money that is owed to him is why he is still the head coach? Or is Gary Barta that blindly supportive that he is just going to ride Kirk right along with the football program down into the gutter?
What if we miss a bowl game again next season, will Kirk be back again????
Things need to change, it's just going to be interesting to see how bad it has to get before we see any change. Thoughts???Iowa football could truly be a top tier program, if we only held it to a higher standard.

Honestly, I think if we could get one more moron to post one more thread critical of Ferentz and his salary...we should be there. Come on, just one more to go and we are done with him for good.
In 2013, Iowa Football will surprise to the upside (9-3).

I honestly don't think he can survive another losing season, especially with the re-seating and increased donations levels that are scheduled to occur after next season. If we really suck again, they will come to a mutual agreement that it's time to step aside. Not the full buyout, which we could never afford. Some kind of modest settlement. The guy already has more money than he could ever spend in one lifetime, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of person that would hold the university for ransom. He has earned a mulligan for this year, but no more than that. Unfortunately, I have the feeling he can scrape together a 6-6 and Ajax Toilet Bowl appearance together, and then he will be an untouchable god again in the eyes of 75% of the fanbase.

I think a bowl game will be required to save KF's job.
What I'm more curious about is whether Barta will (or should) be allowed to hire the next coach.Go to all the football games. They are great. Iowa should be a .500 club this year. -- Kurt Vonnegut

I agree, I don't like the direction this program seems to be going but geez, there are another 2-3 everyday with the same arguments. If people really want to do something besides blow heat air and argue on a message board they need to actually do something. Or at least do the rest of us a favor and keep it all on the same thread, not a new one every few hours.

Don't get down on Dobhawk too hard. He is, after all, stuck in Nebraska, like me, where all he hears is how Bo should be fired ... and that is after a 10 - 3 season.
Of course, this all comes after all the trash talk about how bad Iowa was this year ... (Yeah, we get it ... we know they were bad) ... and yet, Nebraska only beat Iowa by 6 pts.
So, if Dobhawk is hearing the same thing I am ... about firing a coach who has 5 seasons of 9 or more wins, I am sure he is starting to wonder why Iowa doesn't fire KFz.
Don't do it, Dobhawk ... don't let yourself get sucked into this mythical, entitled world in which Husker fans believe they live. Break free, fellow Hawk.
Once a Hawk, always a Hawk ... even after 34 years in Lincoln ...

Re: What is it going to take? How bad does it have to get???????
Thanks for posting this. The reality is we are probably stuck with him for two more years minimum. If he goes 6-6 next year, which I don't think he will, he'll have bought himself more time.
Be prepared for two types of folks on here to give you flak for posting this.........
1. They guy who really believes ferrentz can do no wrong. Strange, yeah, but there are folks on here who believe that.
2. You also got the weak kneed moderates on here who say, "oh, i don't like the direction of the program, but let's just stop criticizing and let ferrentz coach.
Yeah, those two types of fans are pathetic but they'll come after you if you voice your anger over how horrible of coach ferrentz truly is.

Re: What is it going to take? How bad does it have to get???????
No hostility, it's just the idiocy of the posts with "how bad does it have to get?" verbiage. Ok, I don't have to read them...great...I'll do that. I'd prefer read something about what needs to be done to make the team better. It's clear Ferentz isn't going anywhere and Davis is staying. Do you think message board whining will do anything about it? Is it going to start a movement? Ferentz has moved to the "warm seat" in my opinion. He needs to make it happen on the field with wins and solid play. If he doesn't I don't think he will get more than 2014 to get his team to a bowl.
That being said, next year's team will be much better in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If they can find any quarterback play, they should be pretty solid and I think we go 7-5. 2014 should be another step up with the returning players. I like KF's chances of turning this around. In 2013, Iowa Football will surprise to the upside (9-3).
