We are considering implementing the credits feature for this forum, and have some fun with non-monetary 'wagering' if you will on sporting events. I want to check with state laws regarding making prizes available for folks that do well, and will get back on that soon.

What we are considering is similar to what the folks have been doing at www.cyclonefanatic.com, and that is to post point spreads on sporting events, and you are allowed to wager the 'credits' that you earn through posting on the site, and also credits that are awarded to all users to start with. It will mostly be a matter of pride, as in who is the best prognosticator against point spreads, unless I find a way to tie prizes in to special contests.

For now, I will check on any hoops I may need to jump through to make certain this is totally legit if we choose to line up prizes....I will have more information on this shortly.

Good idea. Obviously, this new site was implemented to try new things and offer new content. A little friendly wagering between the talkers would definitely make things interesting and keep this place um, spirited, if you will.

Like I said, I won't be giving out any prizes if that remotely assigns monetary value to credits...it may just be for fun, like the forum suggests...I want to make certain about this, so we will hold off for a while....and you are right, how CF does it, its real fun

It isn't a wager between people, you bet credits on games going against the point spreads and not others picks. I highly recommend you to check out cyclonefanatic and the betting board to see what it would be like, it is a lot of fun.

Perhaps we could all pool our winning credits and use them to attempt a hostile takeover of the cyclone fanatic site. We could then use that sight for whatever we want.... like posting pictures of pretty livestock... or writing a step by step guide on how to create a winning football tradition.

Jon - Was CycloneFanatic a blueprint in a way for what you wanted to do with HawkeyNation.....and if so, in what ways?
