Offsetting Pass Interference

I saw this called yesterday and need someone that has an idea to explain it to me. I can't remember what game it was (I don't drink anymore so when I get really sober on the weekends I have trouble remembering things).

The call was on the 2 players involved directly in the play. It was not a hold call on the O or D. Both players were called for interference. In my thinking if a player was interfered with initially a subsequent interference on the originially interfered with player would be null. I would think that an interference call would mean that the player was prevented from catching a ball they would have if not interfered with.

Saw that too. Can't remember ever seeing that before.
