These three conferences are in a league of their own making up 16 of the BCS top 25. Clearly the Big 12 and SEC are the top 2 Conferences by a decent margin, with the Big Ten a solid third.

Pretty typical. The Big 12/Big 10 generally goes back and forth for challenging the SEC for the top spot. USC being down kills the Pac 12.

I thought that the recent Sagarin ratings showed that the #1 Big 12 and #2 SEC were well ahead of the B1G. It seemed to me that the B1G was barely ahead of the ACC, which was slightly ahead of the Pac 12.

I wouldn't say that the B1G often challenges either of the top 2, it is more likely to be competitve with the ACC and Pac.

This year the SEC is head and shoulders above the rest of the conferences with 2 of the top 3 teams in LSU and Alabama. Big 12 and Big Ten are neck and neck and I expect that to tilt more towards the Big Ten now that the Big 12 is basically turning into the Big 2. The years that Texas and/or Oklahoma are down that conference is going to resemble a high profile mid major.

So, I guess I did make a mistake, I should have included the Big East along with the Pac and ACC. So, in the last 7 years (and likely this year too) the B1G has finished ahead of the Big 12 twice.

I know, I know, cue the tired, old, played, weak "quit living in the past" one liners.....

Interesting. So in 2009 when the Big 10 took out 4 top 15 teams in the bowl games and had more top 10 teams than any other conference we were the 6th best. Interesting.

Hmm - 2004 ACC. 1 team in the top 10 and 3 in the top 20. Totally makes sense that they were the best conference.

I only picked the obvious examples that I knew would be full of crap. I don't feel like taking much time when those 2 tell me all I need to know about Sagarin's conference ratings.

This year the Big Ten has 2 of the worst teams of all the BCS conferences in Minnesota and Indiana. But 1-10 the Big Ten matches up quite well with the Big 12.

But it is funny watching a Iowa State fan come over here and defend his conference like it gives ISU some kind of moral victory or something.
