Cardinals are in!
Woot woot!
10.5 games back of the wildcard leading Braves on 8/25.....
Goes to show pedigree always shines through.
St. Louis = 2011 World Series Champs!

Re: Cardinals are in!
Considering Wainwright was out all year.....Carpenter only ended up 11-9, the bullpen sucked most of the year and the whole Pujols thing....what a great story. LaRussa is a first ballot hall-of-famer.

Re: Cardinals are in!
I've gotta give credit to them, it was a very impressive homestretch. However, I'm disappointed that Pujols came one point and one RBI from keeping his streak alive. Unbelievable level of consistency: 10 straight years of at least .300, 30 dingers, and 100 RBI. Really thought he was gonna pull out #11 with the second half he put together.

What a collapse by Atlanta. And by Boston.

Kind of what I was thinking. It's a testament to Pujols' greatness that .299/37HR/99RBI is a DOWN year.

Re: Cardinals are in!
if there would have been a play in game those stats do not count right?
kinda like getting your first career hit, but then the game gets rained out in the 3rd inning..... that first career hit technically doesn't exist, even though it really happened.

Game 163 stats count. For instance, if Sosa would have gone off for 4 HRs against the Giants in '98, he would have officially been tired with McGwire at 70 HRs for the season.

Good point. Too bad he missed 3 weeks in June because of his injury.

I am no Cards fan, but their comeback (and Atlanta's collapse) was amazing. And Pujols had a great month. I am very jealous (as usual).
