The next manager must have leadership and communication skills; he must place an emphasis on preparation and accountability; he must establish high standards and a winning culture; he must have integrity and an open mind; and he must have managerial or coaching experience at the major league level."
Wow, there's a statement for those who wanted Ryno. I was sort of hoping Quade would finish his contract, even though it would mean having a lame duck manager, because there were some big fish available out there as managers in 2013. It will be interesting guessing on the search.
Just a quick perusal of the forum over at northsidebaseball.com:
Francona's name being thrown about, some like, some don't. I kinda like it.
TLR of all people being thrown around....um, no...not for this Cub fan.
AND
The Cardinals have apparently asked permission to interview Sandberg...be my guest.
Wow, could you imagine what would happen to all the Cub fans who WANT Sandberg if the Cards hired him??
This will be interesting with the Red Sox, Cards, and Cubs searching for managers. Good news is Epstein has been shopping for managers for some time now.
My first pick would be Maddon, but he's not available til next year. I prefer Brenly as he knows the Cubs and was a good manager in AZ. he can ride the rough patch. I don't think Francona is a good idea this year. He needs some time after all the stuff that he's gone through. I like Ryno, not sure what kind of manager he'll be but I think he gets a good look.
Haha..some are speculating on if Sandberg gets the Cards job, and Pujols stays, having fun watching Pujols laying down a bunt to move runners over in the 1st....classic.
For the record, I love Sandberg...the player. I'm not willing to watch him fail as a big league manager in a Cub uniform (although I really hate the picture of him in a Cards uniform).
