Paterno talks to Washington Post

Not sure if this has already been posted.

Penn State Nittany Lions -- Joe Paterno says he didn't know how to handle Jerry Sandusky abuse report - ESPN

Nothing new, but interesting how Paterno's team framed the interview - from a wheelchair, wig on, etc.

I was starting to feel a bit sorry for him, until I got to the part about how he had "never heard of rape and a man" and that he didn't follow-up on the initial locker room report because he didn't "want to influence university procedure."

Right. Joe Paterno dictated university procedure for years. He threw the president of the university out of his house a few years back when it was suggested he consider retirement.

It's hard not to get angry at the old man and his PR team when they continue to spin this garbage. I hope, before he dies, that he meets with some of the men who have had their lives changed forever due to his inaction, and that they are willing to share with him some of the things they've been through. Paterno should do that before opening his mouth again.

Joe, Jay, and Scott need to all STFU! Not one to wish ill on others, but if it takes Joe's passing so I don't have to listen to his coattail riding annoying kids, so be it.

So glad KF lets his kids live their own life. Let's pray he never goes the JoePa route.

I could not agree more. Well stated.

Excuses, excuses is all we hear coming from the Paterno camp. The fact remains he was informed that his former defensive coordinator was sodomizing a boy by an eye witness and all he could do was inform his "superiors". All the while allowing the man to have access to the football facilities and keeping him part of the program without questioning anything.

And you can't tell me he never heard of the investigation back in 1998/1999 that was going on, ultimately forcing Sandusky to retire when everyone thought he was the natural successor to Paterno for the PSU job.

But Joe will never say anything about the previous incident which could make him look worse.

For a man who talked about doing things the right way, he sure did fail miserably with this. Too bad it wasn't something petty like brushing a shop lifting charge aside, instead loads of children were hurt.
