Scott Pioli: The Next J Edgar Hoover

Lot of "interesting" happenings within the walls of the Chief's front offices.

Pioli is a Spy

none of that in the article seems too far out of line to me.

I thought this was a hatchet job by a writer with an axe to grind and a bunch of people angry about getting fired.

Pioli is a Belichick disciple. No surprise that he exerts tight, total control and micro-manages teh Cheef.
Don't like it? There's the exit.

I'm sure he did. He's a Raider fan with more info than he wants on the Cheifs. He even got the "inside" scoop on the next coach (oops.) Has to get that info out somehow (even if he's wrong,) and we were too mean to him here.

Exactly. I'm sure its a tight ship. But that team has been losing (and I would know) for too long. That "fun" place to work got no results on the field. Time to get someone that will demand results.

Re: Scott Pioli: The Next J Edgar Hoover

I'm not leaving. I have insider info. There was a bug in my sandwich the other day too. Hmmmm.

Maybe Fisher will get that place fixed up and happy again soon.......oh, oh yeah, he's not their coach.

However, as the article concludes, some people try to apply what they learned in a different environment and it doesn't work. It works for the Pats and Belichek because they had success fairly soon after he was there (footnote: talent makes everything else look better). If the Chiefs continue to struggle, his methods will continue to be questioned, and like other Belichek disciples, he'll be shown the door.

Re: Scott Pioli: The Next J Edgar Hoover

Does this reveal anything about Ferentz? I'm not saying he is exactly like Pioli, or that he tries to run Iowa identical to this system, but as I read this I thought about the very public admiration that Ferentz and Pioli have expressed for each other. There is likely some axe grinding in this article, but I don't think that anyone would be surprised by the elevated level of importance put on loyalty, information control and attention to detail.

I think Jason Witlock (I know not everyone's favorite) relayed a story on a radio show about Bill Snyder while at Kansas State. Essentially, the story went that Snyder observed some lack of execution by the janitor at the KSU facilities, and Snyder wrote a hand-written note to the janitor on how he could do his job better.

Head coaches have to be a different breed by nature, but some of it just seems unbelievable.
