does he have an offer to nebraska? if no, he's not decommiting anytime soon, i'd guess.

does he have an offer to nebraska? i think that would be an issue for him to consider, i'm sure.

there is a picture of him all decked out in red on the sidelines of last week's nebraska game with a pass tag around his neck.

a caller called in and asked about this in a general sense yesterday, and KF said that they look at those situations on a case by case basis. looking at the variables, communication, etc.

Re: Drew Ott

My prediction is that Nebraska swoops in with a late offer, after another kid de-commits or a player leaves the program, and he takes them up on that offer and I wouldn't blame the kid at all. He's a legacy recruit and his brother is currently in the program, IIRC. I really hope I'm wrong though.

Re: Drew Ott

If this kid is such a "Legacy" recruit, why did Nebraska fail to give him an offer in the first place? not trying to start an argument.. just trying to put the pieces together...

i hope he stays a Hawkeye. but the more i hear about this Nebraska game visit the less confident i feel in that

they have a limited amount of scholarships to offer this year. i don't know what the number is but it is low. that is why we are in on two good nebraska players this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think you necessarily have to have an offer to be a legacy recruit. It's not like they're not interested in him at all, they're just telling him that they don't have enough room for him at this point.

Re: Drew Ott

There was a previous thread about this that had quotes from Drew. He said he didn't think it was going to be such a big deal. He had some friends that had never seen a game and he was able to get free tickets. He said he's still "All Iowa" but would at least look at a Nebraska offer if one came his way, but it wouldn't be a definite that he'd take it.

Re: Drew Ott

From Hawk Central:

>> THINK BEFORE YOU GET DRESSED: Drew Ott used to be able to wear a Nebraska t-shirt without causing a commotion.

That changed as soon as he committed to the Iowa football team in June.

Ott was reminded of that this past weekend after a picture of him standing on the sideline wearing a Nebraska t-shirt during Nebraska’s season opener surfaced on the web.

Ott, who is from Giltner, Neb., told Hawkeye Insider.com that his aunt sent him a text message during the game saying his Nebraska T-shirt was causing a stir.

“I had no idea it was going to be that big of a deal,” said Ott, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end recruit. “I took my girlfriend and my cousin. They had never been to a Nebraska game and I was able to get tickets.

“I definitely should have worn a different shirt.”

Ott committed to Iowa on June 21, but he still hasn’t been offered a scholarship by Nebraska.

Asked by Hawkeye Insider.com what he’d do if Nebraska offered him, Ott said: “I’d have to see, but I still like Iowa. Their coaches treat me a lot better and I just really like them guys.

“If Nebraska offered, I wouldn’t just drop Iowa.”

That piece intrigues me. I wonder what the basis behind that is.

Re: Drew Ott

His quotes sound like he' s wavering. I hope he spends his career on the winning sideline of that last divisional game each year, but if his heart is in Nebraska that's where he should be.

DUH. That would be like an nfl'er showing up somewhere with a different teams shirt on. Or showing up to work with the competitors shirt on. I say either your in or your not. If not I am sure there is another kid out there chomping at the bit for a good chance at going pro and willing to show their support of the team and coaches who are giving him that shot.

I agree and if he gets an offer from Nebraska then he is gone.

If you are 100% committed and you get asked about going to another school you would not say "I'd have to see" the correct answer is "I would say thanks but no thanks".

Agreed, but that's not what kids say/do now. It wouldn't shock me at all for Nebby to come in late and he switches. It would suck but can't blame the kid if that's where his heart is. I really just wished that kids wouldn't verbal until they were 100% sure where they wanted to go, but I know that is just a pipe dream.

Iowa has offered him a scholarship, Nebraska has not.

No big mystery. I don't think Ott had anything nefarious planned, it's just fairly obvious that he his heart and history is with Nebraska. No harm in that. No one should be shocked if he goes to Nebraska if they end up offering a scholarship.

Correct. Very similar to the situation we had last year with Quinn Early's kid.
