If I were a recruit, I would be looking elsewhere, but I hope our coaches don't make the call to the athletes. If the athletes call them, fine, but I think it would be less than classy to try to capitalize on this situation.

I know Brent Wilkerson was a very early commit to Penn State.. but that would be a good target as well (out of DeMatha).

I wouldnt consider it capitalizing on the situation. I would recruit them like we did before they committed.

I believe most have said they were solid. Of course this was yesterday and JoePa was good to go and the whole staff as well. Things may change now. Also, a top recruit Noah Spence has said to the effect of "PSU, eeeeewwww" so there is some response happening out there.

If I was a parent and my kid was committed to Penn St., there is no way in hell they would be in State College next year. Especially when we really don't know how far this reaches, this story has blown up already, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.

If we are above just calling them to make sure they are still committed to PSU then fine. I hope all of those recruits find a different school to attend.

Perfectly fine and agree that this is what the lead recruiter for said players should do. I guarantee you when Rhabdo happen Iowa was open for business on the recruiting front.

I guess I am just exceptionally classy, what can I say? I would honestly be a little disappointed in our staff if we initiated contact with the PSU commits.

Definitely call them. Verbal commitments are non- binding. Kids can, and do, flip their commitments all the time. I'm sure Iowa has maintained communication with everyone they have been recruiting anyway. I.don't think this is an ethical issue.

I really don't see the problem. You just let them know there is another option available if they would rather keep away from that mess. You know other schools will do it.
