I really like Faith as he seems very well grounded! Seems like he is the type of kid that can come to Iowa and definitely succeed. Would be ecstatic to see him sign on the dotted line for Iowa.

Clearly more mature than I was at that age and writes better as well. His comments about Iowa City and the University highlight some of the strengths and challenges that we have in recruiting. A worthwhile read for that if nothing else.

I agree. He liked the way the school, the coaches and the fans treat players, so he can have that or become a number somewhere else. If he is as smart as he sounds, you have to think Iowa stands a very good chance.

However, this posting was more recent and therefore seems to have more bearing on his current state of mind. From his POV, it seems like the campus and the academics at BC blows Iowa away, so all we have going for us is the fans and the coaching staff. He seems aware of the stability of the coaching staff at Iowa and how that is a good thing, but not phased (if he is aware) by the fact that BC has gone through three coaches in that same span. One more year like this and their coach will be fired.

Our positives might win in the end, but from that latest blog, it just seems like he is leaning towards BC.

Yes, its been a while since my last post, but if you guys are not aware, I’m back in school now. And of course, with attending any school comes a few responsibilities aka going to class, doing homework, and going through your after school athletics. These are all time consuming, so the rate at which I’m going to be blogging is definitely going to slow down a bit. Fortunately though, tonight fosters one of my lighter loads of homework for the week, so I decided, what a perfect night to blog about the University of Iowa.
Some of you may remember that I made the trip down to Iowa city to pay a visit to the Hawkeyes, with the help of one of my teachers at LFA (Mr.Less). It was a long drive, but what I gained from my visit that day was definitely worth the drive. During my visit, I was obviously given a thorough tour of the facilities (which were impressive, and according to the coaching staff is only going to get better), but I also got a chance to sit down with many of the coaches and a few of the players for the day and I got the opportunity to watch them go through a practice in the afternoon.
Before I go into the endless positives of Iowa, I’m going to say, I was a little disappointed with the location only because I’m very much a fan of the big city. However, after the visit, I could sort of envision myself being able to live in a small tight-knit community like that. It definitely brings an increased sense of security and a family-like atmosphere to Iowa City as a whole.
One of the greatest positives to the University of Iowa just might be their coaching staff led by Coach Ferentz. I was extremely impressed when they told me that every member of their staff has been there for about 10 years or more, and from the looks of it, none of them seemed like they planned on leaving any time soon. As a player, knowing that the coaches that recruited me would also be there for then next 4 or 5 years while I’m playing at their University is extremely reassuring, especially if these coaches are people that you feel like you can trust already.
Another positive that may intrigue a lot of dline prospects interested in attending Iowa is the fact that for the past 6 years (I think), every single senior that has started for them on the defensive line has gone on to be drafted to the NFL. So for those d linemen aspiring to a football career after College, Iowa is definitely the place to be in the Midwest. It seems like coach Rick Kaczenski has a method to his madness, but it has worked so far.
The thing that most intrigued me (aside from their superior strength and conditioning program) was the kind of athletes they recruit at Iowa. Iowa may be one of the only schools that I’ve talked to that recruits undersized players. They have extended scholarship offers to a number of prospects that would have been considered to have less potential by other schools.
They have even extended scholarships to kids who were not being recruited at all, and the best part about this is that all of these players end up being great players in the end that are competing with the very best in the Big 1o. I actually got a chance to sit down and talk with a few of their linemen, and they made me feel right at home. I could just sense that a lot of these players had a chip on their shoulders. That combination of over-determined players, great coaching, and an overall exceptional football program is probably what has made the University of Iowa so successful so far.
Bottom Line is, the University of Iowa does not have many negatives to it, and I definitely cannot wait to get back down to Iowa City for an official visit. Until then, I have to take care of my business in the class and on the field. Once again, thanks for reading, and stay posted!

Yeah, I read that from a different site. I just hope he remembers that when it comes to decision time. He sounds like the type of smart, motivated kid that we need.

Yeah, I dont think he is a dummy. I just worry if he doesnt get going faster, spots are going to close up. How many more DL are we going to take if those two juco's come aboard? We have a ton of young guys already. I think he could make an impact and move up fast, but there is no need putting yourself behind the 8 ball if you dont have to.

He could get left out by us, but those JUCOs haven't committed yet, so there is still time. I think at worst he ends up at BC. They'll keep a spot open for him because they really need some help.

The hawks have 2 DE and 1 DT committed. Faith could be at either spot. Both DE are projects and Faith is most likely to get the earliest playing time. Also if you get both of the JUCOs, 1 might be more of a LB (though I think we get 1 or none), the other either DL spot. I could see Iowa taking Faith and both of the JUCO guys. Iowa graduates a lot of Dline and we are pretty thin there.

Also, Iowa is not going to take a TE this year unless Johnson changes his mind but I doubt it. So there are 8 spots left and I see them playing out this way (with my hopes in parentheses)

0-1 LB (Lambert)
1 DB (Morgan or Stewart)
1 RB (Garmon)
1 QB ( I have no clue who they are even targeting anymore)
0-1 OL (Diamond, though I have my doubts and I think Kozan goes tOSU)
0-1 WR (Darboh but I doubt it)
2-3 DL (really hope Faith, Curry and/or the JUCO kids)

Already in this class:
2 DE Ott and Venckus
1 DT Johnson
2 WR Wilson and Mabin
1 LB Taylor
2 DB Flemming and Lile
1 K Kornbrath
2 OT Ward and Keppy
1 RB/WR/DB malloy

His comments about the campus don't surprise me. When I compare Iowa's campus to Minnesota's or Wisconsin's (only other B10 campuses I've been too) it is not even close.

Luckily for Iowa, they do put a lot of money into the football facilities.
