Greg Garmon Highlight Video

Erie, PA running back Greg Garmon gave Iowa TV shout out on Tuesday night, verbally committed to the Hawkeyes during the telecast of a high school all star game.

Garmon is rated four stars by each of the primary recruiting services, including Scout.com. Garmon had offers from Iowa, Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and others. He is 6-1/195 and runs a sub 4.5 forty-yard dash. He has a solid mix of power and speed and would definitely be referred to as a ‘home run hitter’, something the Iowa offense desperately needs from this position.

Read this article from Rob Howe for some background on Garmon, who cites the love Iowa fans still show for former Erie, PA star Bob Sanders as one of the things that stood out on his visit to Iowa City.

Howe also alerted his twitter followers to this article that deals with his off the field battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when he was younger.

The news couldn’t have come at a better time for the program or the Iowa fans, as news of Mika’il McCall’s departure from Iowa had just begun to surface minutes before Garmon made his decision. Iowa expects Marcus Coker to return to the program following his one game suspension (Insight Bowl). Sophomore’s to be Jordan Canzeri, Damon Bull and junior to be De’Andre Johnson are also expected to return for Iowa, but none of those players has much playing time under their belts.

It stands to reason that Garmon will have every opportunity to impress the Iowa coaching staff this coming summer and in fall camp, just as McCall did this past year. Garmon is believed to be Iowa’s 18th verbal commitment in their Class of 2012. Given the early entry to the NFL by offensive tackle Riley Reiff and McCall’s departure from the program, Iowa may wind up with another three or four commitments in this class, at a minimum.

does Sokol count toward next years class (2012) or last (2011)? I know its a sum total deal, just curious. Also, total number a school can sign in a year is 25, correct? Thanks in advance.

i've heard of a 'decleater' but never a 'dehelmeter'.

garmon looks a lot bigger than what his numbers show - i'm guessing that indicates the size of his teammates, which is surprising, i guess. looks like he is playing iowa small ball, almost.

He could be a sed shaw clone, but he looks like he'd be a better wr with his size and moves.

I like his size speed combo, I don't know if he has the speed to be pulling those Tim Dwight reverse of field plays in college tho. [:-)]

Re: Greg Garmon Highlight Video

Some of those cutback reverse plays he made were plays that would absolutely kill a coach to watch. He ended up on the 30 yardline on one of those. I'm sure he'll quickly learn what he could do in hs that he can't in college though.

No doubt. I definitely see a receiver there.

Yeah, I'm seeing more of a WR in that vid.
