They have a good coach and are becoming a good program. Rutgers isnt the joke it was before Schiano arrived.

How is not true? He's averaged 8 wins over the last 7 seasons and 6 of those seasons have been winning records. Yeah, they play in the Big East, but they still play a tough brand of football.

Re: Lambert to Rutgers

Let's see, they are as good as Iowa right now, they won their bowl game, and it's the hometown team. If this kid was from Iowa and he chose to go out of state to a program similar to Iowa, say K-state, everyone would be ****** he left the state.

The kid made the decision that was best for him, and I'm not sure how you can be in disbelief unless you have your blinders on drinking the kool aid

Re: Lambert to Rutgers

If I were from New Jersey I'd stay in state to play for Rutgers too. Obviously you pay little attention to the rest of the football world than what ESPN and this site tell you if you don't realize Rutgers isn't bad. In fact they had a better year than Iowa and have done well recently.

How many wins would you give Rutgers if they were in the B1G and visa versa if Iowa was in the Big East? Rutgers is a second rate program.

But they aren't in the B10, so who knows, and it only takes 9 wins to get to a BCS bowl, so why not. Also, if you didn't notice, the Big east champ obliterated the ACC champ. so if he wants to go to a BCS bowl then maybe it was the right choice.

Not sure how you can say that Rutgers is second rate. You probably say that about ISU, who beat Iowa, and got beat by Rutgers.

Re: Lambert to Rutgers

The real question I believe is when he thought he would see the field. LB is the deepest position on the Iowa team...and we are young. Morris, Hitchens, Kirksey, Alston, Derby...not to mention Poggi and a few others. He was at least two years away from playing here unless injuries decimate the position.

Re: Lambert to Rutgers

with the way NJ produces talent if they start keeping top rated talent home it won't take them long to be the power of the BE
with PSU having their trouble that will be one less to come in and cherry pick

ISU isn't second rate. Not in recent history anyway. No, they haven't been to a BCS game or even played in a January bowl, but they are improving. Programs like Duke, Indiana, Syracuse (recent history), Conference USA teams, etc, are second rate.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, ease up a bit.

A) Rutgers isn't as good of a program as Iowa

B) Neither is Kansas State

I agree with your premise, that we'd expect an Iowa kid to go to Iowa (or maybe Iowa State) rather than go out of state for a similar program. Iowa isn't a similar program as Rutgers though, not by any standard (bowl games, fan support, facilities, etc) I'm not going to fault a kid for staying home though.
